That's an option, I turned that off within a few days of getting the truck.Totally disappears when a turn signal is activated.
... and then you don't have the side view when changing lanes. Why is it an either/or situation? Have you seen the views available in off road mode, where one can have the rear camera and both side cameras displayed simultaneously?turn signal

at 1.25x I find the field of view is comparable to a traditional mirror, and at that zoom it's better than the digital mirror camera in my Defender. YMMV.The rear-view camera "mirror" is all but worthless for anything but backing up. It is simply a backup safety camera, nothing more.
Even with the new 2x zoom it is still NOT comparable to a regular rear view mirror because the FOV is far too large.
IMO, the rear camera/mirror is one of the worst TESLA OEM implemented systems in the truck for a multitude of reasons:
-Not helpful in identifying traffic behind you.
-Not useable with the tailgate down.
-Barely useable with any type of precipitation or even driving on damp roadways.
-Totally disappears when a turn signal is activated.
Some of this can be addressed with software, but a lot of it has physical limitations. I am still hopeful we will get a purposeful upgrade from Tesla or an aftermarket manufacturer.
I've driven over 18,000 miles in the last year with my CT.. I'm not seeing the issue. And yes, I've seen the Offroad mode view and ... meh... and then you don't have the side view when changing lanes. Why is it an either/or situation? I have the BIGGEST issues when it comes to motorcyclists splitting lanes behind me. It's super hard to see them on my screen, especially in the early morning hours. The rear-view camera "mirror" is all but worthless for anything but backing up. It is simply a backup safety camera, nothing more.

I'm hoping Tesla is beta testing a UI change that brings a widefield rear and side view that includes the repeater camera.... and then you don't have the side view when changing lanes. This is why I weave to aim my headlight at the side mirror or camera position so it'll glitter in drivers' peripheral.I have the BIGGEST issues when it comes to motorcyclists splitting lanes behind me. It's super hard to see them one my screen, especially in the early morning hours.
That would be nice. I also miss the ability to move the music controls from driver to passenger sides of the display from my prior Model S.I'm hoping Tesla is beta testing a UI change that brings a widefield rear and side view that includes the repeater camera.
I saw a while back they were working on a UX with far more modularity. But they have to comply with archaic laws and rules about instrumentation. That would be nice. I also miss the ability to move the music controls from driver to passenger sides of the display from my prior Model S.
Interesting, where did you find that setting?turn signal

Hard disagree. While I hate and never use the rear-view camera in my C8 (it actually gives me a headache), I love this one! I removed my physical mirror and have never missed it. I find it to be sharp, detailed and very useful, especially in its widest view. The rear-view camera "mirror" is all but worthless for anything but backing up.
You ride? Be safe out thereThis is why I weave to aim my headlight at the side mirror or camera position so it'll glitter in drivers' peripheral.
