Getting 175 mile range estimate while towing trailer & bikes in bed + towing tips

Pulling a 16ft airstream trailer with my bikes in the back got me an estimate range of 175. On my way up on a 114 mile trip, I stopped half way at my usual supercharger because i was expecting similar range as my model y (rated for about the same; I was getting avg 115 miles towing). On the way home i was able to confidently drive back without stopping 114 miles with 35% left to keep going.

Trailer profiles are pretty awesome. Instead of my range dropping as i go, it actually goes up because it was underestimating the aero-efficiency. I think it assumes i'm towing a brick instead of an airstream.

Some suggestions:

• remove brake control features if there is no brake (check box in the profile)
• auto select trailer profile based on plug (probably not possible to identify a plug from a different trailer)

Thanks for the post. I’m planning a short trip towing a 28’ Airstream. Fully loaded it weighs 7,000 LBS. I’m going to keep my speed at 55 MPH. I’m hoping to get close to 150 miles of range. Fingers crossed.

my camper is 2700 empty. i rated it at 3200 in the trailer profile. honestly no idea how accurate that is lol. either way the range was way more than i expected (and the systems expectations).

What was your average speed? My understanding is that wind resistance plays a large roll in power losses when towing.

speed ranged from 55-70 but drove around 60-65 the most.

Looks great. I had a similar setup as well! Was fortunate to find a large charger site on my trip where I could charge without unhitching and did not bother anyone else needing to charge. With the Cybertruck, you almost forget you’re pulling something behind you!

my 17' Casita Freedom Deluxe is rated at 2800(-+) and it weighs about 3200...I was able to get 2 charges at 175 miles each. Very happy even though before they released it, I said, If it doesn't get 300 miles TOWING, I am NOT buying it! So much for that...

Good for you.

I got 89 miles out of 100% charge pulling a 4,200 RV.

Up to now, I still can't understand why because it's a fine day and kept my speed at 55 mph.

I towed with a 26ft airstream and got about 110-120mi between charges with a 10-15% reserve.

Some statistics from my last trip:

• Level - 65mph: 920wh/mi
• Level - 60mph: 820wh/mi
• Level - 55mph: 620wh/mi
• Hill - 65mph: 1100wh/mi
• Hill - 55mph: 800wh/mi
• Mountain - 60mph: 1400wh/mi

I went on another trip. Little shorter distance but I had the tonneau cover closed this time. Driving 60-70 all the way up (maybe some traffic) i was rated for 187 miles. On the way back I hit traffic for many miles that had me stopping and going up t 30-35 mph which rated me at 202 miles. Towing with the cybertruck is not bat at all. But I have not yet towed my sxs or anything else that may be significantly less aerodynamic than the airstream. Although the airstream might be my largest and heaviest thing I tow.
