I think if they are able to make singles pieces for the doors and not 3 that will make it adhere stronger and less likely to peel of due to wind

Wow this is sick! And looks much better than I thought!!! If you can do some camo patterns would be great! Also I’m assuming this is a 2 man crew?

Keep going love it!!!!
Two people definitely makes it easier and faster, especially for the larger pieces. If you don't have any assistance, a lightweight work table, especially one with wheels so you can move it around your vehicle might help.

What’s the latest for trucks in the rain. Last I asked, you are supposed to remove these an clean/dry them and the truck after every rain… not feasible in Oregon as you remember..

We are most likely going to recommend a double coat of ProtectaClear or Everbrite prior to applying the magnets for wet or harsh weather conditions. We are completing another corrosion test with those products this coming week.

Thanks for the reply! Should we double coat under, what is the anticipation for driving in Oregon? Like need to take the panels off once a week/month/6months? Removing them weekly or even monthly seems like a lot for an individual like me to have to mount them that often as the install seems to take much longer

Rain itself is not the real issue. It’s salt and water combined that can cause corrosion. I’m not sure how much salt remains on the roads in the PNW. The hope is that a double application of those coatings should allow prolonged use of the magnetic covers. In the southwest like Southern California and Las Vegas, it’s not really an issue.

I appreciate it! We don’t have salt in rain on the road but last last I saw was if water got within the magnet and truck it would cause problems. Your product is intriguing and I am considering it since I failed a DIY vinyl install.. but from the last/first thread you posted, it sounded like I’d have to remove the magnets weekly after rains… I look forward to hearing more.. it will probably have to be remove every 6 months type of maintenance for someone in Oregon to pull the trigger as it rains 8-9months a year consistently

one vehicle? under all conditions? Yes, I believe they will blow off. Wind or getting blasted by a vehicle hitting a puddle in the opposite direction, countless ways for them to fall off. We will see.
Not one vehicle, multiple vehicles in different states with different climates and conditions, especially during winter. Research and development was performed before they launched these magnets. I can understand you having concerns but you sound so convinced that they'll blow off. This isn't a high-school project, these are heavy duty magnets.

Also, I see you have signs made.. gonna add signs other than “I reserved this in 2019 before Elon went crazy”, or “I like technology, not Elon”…. What about say ones that also in support? Seems strange to play to one side not the other … (also I am not the other side either but appreciate companies that are apolitical or don’t choose sides as you may appear to be doing)

doesn’t change the fact that you are making a cool product.. just interesting how anti-Elon you are going in on
The products you’ve mentioned are listed as “Magnetic Security Signs”. That means these signs are intended to help protect your truck against vandalism more so than to project a political view. Since the anti-Elon side seems to be causing the most trouble, that’s why the signs are themed that way. A person can be pro-Elon or anti-Elon and still get their Tesla keyed.

I can sell you pro-Elon signs, but they won’t protect your vehicle from vandals.

My store is apolitical, but to not sell these types of products to help protect against vandalism would be a missed opportunity and a disservice to my customers who might need them.

To answer your question, that’s as anti-Elon it’s ever going to be on my site. I'm apolitical. I’m just going to wait on the sidelines and see how everything works out.

NO.....I think you're MISSING the point!
YOU CAN'T PULL THESE OFF......AT ANY SPEED!!!!!! ?
I mean if they don't want you going through the blowers at an auto carwash I think SOME speed will take them off, just need to know that speed is > than my max driving speed+30mph wind :)

Fair.. not meaning to attack, was just curious…. Just want a company that seems to be making a good product to not dive into all that mess.. but I digress.. I deleted my post because I don’t feel this is the right forum or that it would elicit proper discussions and response.. cheers, can’t wait to hear when I can have those magnet covers in Oregon and keep them on for a prolonged time

The car wash isn’t about blowers it’s about getting water in between the magnets and your truck’s ss, which would be bad.

1) What is the additional weight of the magnetic panels and the effect on range?
2) Are there any issues with corrosion between the magnetic panels and the stainless body?

1. Statistically 0. A 3mph breeze headwind will make a bigger impact on range
2. Good question
