What I would love to see is a combination of hardware and software. I would love to see a USB/Lightning/something port that allows a system integrator to plug a separate onboard computer in, and with a button on the screen you could bring up the "monitor" of that other onboard computer, and allow the touchscreen to interact with it.

This would be AMAZING for Police, Military, Security, and other custom vehicle integrators to add their proprietary systems to the car without adding a second screen on a mount of some sort, they could just use the built-in screen. Then all they would need to mount in the car is a keyboard.

This would allow them to add those systems without having to give them any access to the Tesla Operating System in the car so it would remain secure. Also, all the accessories those systems would use (Like printers or Smart Card readers), don't need to connect to the vehicle at all, since they could just plug directly into that secondary computer.

Oh yeah, I would also love if they would let us turn off, or even better, turn down the Wattage of the wireless phone charger to avoid overheating phones.

It would be neat if the software could estimate the amount of weight on each wheel and total cargo weight by using the airbag pressure data.

  1. Cargo weight Estimates.
  2. Rear View camera view while turn signal is on. I highly disklike not seeing behind me when at a traffic light.
  3. Split the screen 3 ways so that the rear view camera view does not block Nav or any other screens.
  4. Lower power costs for Sentry mode.

This is an amazing idea and one that I hope we can make happen someday. Like a sandbox option on the Tesla computer that lets you control a stand alone computer where you could build you're own custom "screen" with you're own graphics/options and IO. LOVE IT!!!

I think the issue is that with the CT everything is on the Etherloop, including things like audio, and if you allow third party apps to integrate into the architecture, then there’s always the chance that they introduce a bug that ends up hosing other truck functions. Even with strict QoS rules, allowing non-Tesla software or hardware to access the architecture raises too high a risk that someone will screw something up and introduce a bug, or even worse, a bad actor like a state-sponsored hacker, foreign government, or even our own government could secretly introduce something into our trucks that nobody expected. And then the liability will be on Tesla unless Tesla can prove it wasn’t them. You know how the News loves to blame things on Tesla by default…. I know some functions like steer by wire and brake-by-wire are on a dedicated network, and I trust Elon to make sure nobody (including Tesla or the US govt) has the ability or opportunity to shut down our trucks remotely for non-life-threatening reasons or suddenly cut the wheels on the highway. But that doesn’t mean people aren’t trying to hack into Teslas as we speak.
Ask Grok or GPT about Stuxnet if you want a better idea of how allowing outside hardware or software into integrated architectures can be a bad idea.

I like these both. Maybe split the rearview with the side cam when making a turn. I am always checking my rear view when stopped at a light due to the terrible drivers out there these days. I might not be able to move out of the way, but I can prepare for impact.
And the cargo weight estimate, is just cool to have.

Work with cable companies (Xfinity specifically comes to mind) so that their browser works with the cable company streaming sites. Right now it doesn't, which limits the channels one can get; although if one has Fox News or HBO for example, one may be able to access video for those using their support for cable company sign-on (I watch Dr Who reruns while charging that way). But that method of access involves a different site per channel, which is quite tedious.

Since the browser is Chromium based if a slightly old version, this should not be incredibly hard. It might even work already if the cable company web site was willing to recognize the Tesla's browser version as acceptable.

Technically this should be very low hanging fruit. It's only difficult in terms of companies and people talking to each other.

I’ve thought about this a bit, and here’s a few of my ideas:

1) Add the ability for the inside microphone to monitor specifically for radar detector alert noises, so when on FSD the truck slows automatically when your radar detector alerts. Through the various sensors the truck knows the speed limit, traffic conditions, and road conditions, so it could intelligently choose the appropriate speed based on the situation. Example, if it’s 1am and you are alone on a dark highway in the middle of nowhere and your Ka warning goes off once at low power, then once at medium power, you might want to slow down to exactly the speed limit, but if it’s during the day and you’re moving just a little faster than traffic, then slow down to match the rest of traffic and move right a couple lanes. I think this is really just a variation of what the truck is currently learning to do with emergency vehicles - hear a certain sound, slow down and change lanes.

2) The truck has some impressively powerful hardware capable of video processing, but today almost none of it is focused on the video the driver sees. For example, I’m still very underwhelmed with the “rear-view mirror” view on the touchscreen - for example the lack of integration with the blind spot side repeaters which can only completely replace the rear view camera or not show up at all. It feels like there has to be a way of stitching together the video from the ring of cameras around the truck in a way that gives the the driver better situational awareness. “Birds Eye View” while parking would be the simplest example of this, although I think I heard that we don’t have birds-eye-view due to licensing from Nissan, not because they couldn’t do it. But there are other features that would make driving the CT way easier. For example, I have one onramp near my house where I’m getting onto a non-divided highway with a 55mph speed limit where everyone is going 70mph. This onramp ends with a very tight >90 decreasing radius right corner that leads into a short merging area to get up to speed with traffic. Because the turn is so tight, you can’t afford to look over your shoulder to see who’s going to try to block you out, but the small truck mirrors don’t show enough of the oncoming traffic to plan your merge, and the rear view mirror camera doesn’t show nearly enough detail. Usually I’ll hit the 3-camera button to take up the whole screen with the rear view and the two side repeaters, to see whether I need to merge aggressively or passively, but I was thinking there must be a way for the truck to recognize this scenario based on nav data and proactively offer a view that gives me what I need so I can look forward and to the touchscreen. For example, when you have the expanded visualization taking up the whole screen, you can rotate that to show vehicles on the side of you or behind you by dragging your finger to rotate the view around the truck. Why not rotate the visualization automatically when merging onto a highway? Or what if instead of (in addition to?) showing oncoming vehicles on the FSD Visualization, it also showed them on the Nav visualization, which is already a “birds eye view” of everything around you? Or what if the truck could recognize the scenario based on Nav data and realize that you’re going to want to see over your left shoulder to merge, so it stitches together camera data from the driver’s side repeaters to give you a view of oncoming traffic with an artificially stabilized rotational field-of-view showing everything currently next to you and back, to show the approaching vehicles in a way that allows you to choose where you want to merge in?

3) Steam. Just give us Steam. I had a loaner Model X when my truck was in the shop and it had Steam, but I only got to play once and I had left my game controller in the CT, so I couldn’t even really play, but it seemed like Steam would be amazing on the CT if the AI4 hardware has the GPU capacity to handle it.

The above is an outstanding idea. It could even make an emergency tire plug/patch job on the road side much more trivial for those with the knowledge to perform said task.

And AC outlet on the interior would be cool for charging laptops, without a plug-in inverter.

Sound canceling logic for the auto system tuned specifically for tire and wind noise but that may present a driving hazard by some existing broad sweeping existing law. Perhaps it already exists on a Tesla? Maybe this could even reduce the need for sound deadening materials and its associated weight if successfully implemented?

Perhaps enhanced sound where outside sound can intentionally be piped inside the vehicle so that when the windows are up you can still clearly hear what is going on outside the vehicle while remaining in a filtered environment. Maybe limited to under 5mph hour or stationary?

For youth drivers. Perhaps built phone alerts when excessive speeds, hard braking or outside of predefined Geo fence. Maybe even forced speed caps for X over posted speed limits.

Meshed networking between other nearby Tesla (or compatible) vehicles to further aid in FSD/Autopilot providing an expanded and greater range of vision. I see this occurring at some point in the eventual future anyhow just as natural progression.
There are two AC outlets in the interior:

I would just settle for a HomeLink module, like they offer on every other Tesla model.

Garage door button on main truck graphic screen. Tonneau “vent” button. Steam or significantly more games in the interface. Maybe a Nintendo or sega emulator? Precondition battery for fast charging button.
One touch “defensive/tank” mode—call it whatever you want but…switches to off-road, very high, enables wade mode and biohazard defense mode, locks doors and folds mirrors all at the same time.
Also…multi-color modes for accent strips
