Because Elon insisted on adding more technology when the truck was under development the CT mushroomed in price. Around 40% higher than anticipated. The SBW, RWS, 48 volt architecture, lack of door handles, etc. simply added to the 2019 reveal prices.

Tesla excels at cuttings their COGS so don't be surprised to see a significant price drop in the next year or two.

You will be missing out on an incredible machine if you cancel. Everyone and their mama wants this to fail. This is when I wish Tesla will start having the likes of us do commercials. Damn!! I LOVE this truck! WORTH EVERY $$$$$$$$!

Coming up on 9 months with my CB and, if it somehow got wrecked, I'd immediately replace it with another one.
  • It's the most fun "passenger vehicle" to drive I've ever owned.
  • It lets me do homeowner pickup truck stuff. Dump runs, home depot, etc.
  • It is backup power to my house.
  • It has FSD, which I use 80-90% of the time.
  • It has an awesome sound system.
  • It's the most comfortable road trip vehicle I've owned.
  • The unwrapped stainless is as worry free as it gets. I drive through low branches every day, and love that it just doesn't matter. I'm not one to care about mud or fingerprints.
  • It's charged every morning when I need it.
  • There is minimal maintenance: Tires, washer fluid, and air filter. On a truck!
And recalls aren't an argument against the CT, either. Ford just recalled another 130,000 vehicles. Kia/Hyundai recalled millions of vehicles for risk of fire in 2023. GM currently has 90,000 vehicles recalled for transmission failure.... the list is endless. Tesla recalls tend to be pretty minor. But sure, cant rails.

(Edit: added other things I love about it)

I am seeing many Youtube posts making the case for the Cybertruck being a total failure and even surpassing the Edsel as the worst new car failure ever.
I have a Foundation CT on order, awaiting recall repairs for the cantrail issue so I haven't received my CT yet.
I am growing concerned that maybe this purchase is a mistake. The FUD is working.
Also, I am thinking if I hold out a little longer, until the 1st quater earnings call, maybe there will be some serious additional incentives on the CT if Tesla really does need to start moving these trucks due to super low sales and all the issues with panels falling off, etc.
I would sure appreciate the community's feedback on this.
I’m on YouTube as well as on my second Cybertruck. I had issues with the first and came back because it’s the ultimate vehicle. This second one is just about flawless.

I have 30,000 miles in 11 months. Nothing about the truck sucks. Except for the reviewers.

My other line of thinking is that if the CT is a total financial failure for Tesla, my Cybertruck will become an instant classic and incredibly valuable as a collectable. I wish I had an Edsel or a Corvair!
Maybe "classic" and "collectable" to a niche community, but Edsels and Corvairs are not generally worth a lot of money. Decent examples of both often sell for less than $10K, and it took decades before they were worth more than they cost.

Buy the truck if want it as a vehicle. There are way better things to buy if you want an investment.

Did they buy your first one back?

I have not been successful in finding any great deals on used CT's. I think people bought FS early on and paid a lot and therefore are selling for very high prices.
This might be one of the better-priced Cyberbeasts out there, currently listed at J&S Autohaus. Not sure if you're still looking or holding out for a better deal.

They’ve also got a YouTube channel—George, who I believe is the owner, does walkarounds and deal-making videos on the lot. I did speak with someone there once, though the salesperson came off a bit like the stereotypical pushy type. That said, they do seem to have a solid selection of cars.

Glad you came back to the CT family, Kobra. I was bummed to see your struggles with the original truck.

I viewed that opinion piece by Forbes as well. It was very negative towards the Cybertruck.

The 8 recalls until now seems high until you realize the truck is on a brand platform using novel manufacturing and assembly techniques never attempted before. The truck is loaded with high tech as well such as SBW, RWS, 48 volt architecture, etc.

I do think the truck will remain a low volume vehicle for Tesla. Leadership overestimated the demand for a BEV full size pickup truck in America. Buyers have spoken and they prefer fossil fueled pick up trucks.
the current battery tech and this design does not provide what the mainstream pickup buyer thinks they need, 550-600 mile range when not towing and 300 miles when towing
you cannot get enough batteries in that space or you need the Silverado Ext Range, Hummer design which is totally different vehicle, 220 kwh battery

I love the cybertruck and dont need that range
we will have to wait for next gen battery tech catch up to hit at least 500 miles
if you need to unload the cybertruck, find a cybertruck fan

I have no problems with the cybertruck we have today

I must be missing something about the financial aspect of this because $105k for a used 2024 Cyberbeast doesn't really seem like a good move when I can buy new for less at $99k

They had a 2024 cyberbeast with 1,700 miles for $87k. They must have sold it. Totally agree, $105k for a used cyberbeast is crazy.

Ive had my truck for 9 days now, i dont regret it. I haven't had a lot of experiences with people in the wild since my daily adventures are the same areas over and over again. school, ups store, publix etc.. then back home, same areas everyday. I have only seen 1 other cybertruck in those 9 days and that was last wednesday and they were coming towards me from the light and the passenger lady waved at me, no other experiences other than at my sons birthday party a dad said he thought it was cool and asked about it being american made etc.

You will not regret it. The vehicle is incredible. If I had to buy one again, I would get another FS given the discounts and free supercharging.
I’ve had a model S for 9 years and it’s still in great shape but collecting dust in the driveway as I hands down prefer to ride in my non foundation CB. Love every second of it and so far I’ve gotten zero hate and several people come up to ask me questions about it. This is with it parked outside an Airbnb in what is arguably one of the most left wing areas in so cal. The negativity is inflated by the media.
