I’m going to be purchasing a low mileage FS in the coming days and was curious your collective thoughts on the AWD vs CB? I’m leaning toward the AWD, but can be swayed.

Do you know if I purchase a FS CB, could I receive the wheel covers and light bar and anything else still owed to that vehicle as the second owner?

Thank you all for the entertainment since this great site’s inception.

Both are a great purchase (better than new) more standard options, unless always of course you adopt someone else’s lemon.

What do you need
Need? I just need a truck that will get me around and allows me to lug my children and all of their sports gear from point A to B. Does a tri-motor CB become a requirement? I think I have answered my own question…thanks!

Don’t get the cyber beast because it’s front wheel drive biased versus the all-wheel-drive is rear wheel drive biased. Because of this it does change the driving dynamics and the speed is just ridiculous for a truck anyway the all-wheel-drive is a better value with less future depreciation.

I own a non- FS AWD. New in Feb 2025- is a 2024 production model by VIN. It is now on its 3rd Service center visit and on day 8 they still don’t have it fixed. Make sure you get explicit service history and id look at something with >5k miles on it given my experience. I can’t even tell what they have done to mine because the service app hides all the facts of previous services. Maybe they can print that off for you but an owner cannot see what’s been done in any detail.

I absolutely loved my short relationship with the AWD but I actually would go for the CB I think if mine lemons out. Why? I want FSD fully forever- it is that good and I want to support it and also not have a price hike when it goes big. I want the light bar and the tri motor tech blend. The speed is silly- no one needs that- but I’d pay for it now that I know how good the CT technology is (when it’s not in the SC-that is). I’m concerned about this issue about going over bumps in CB (see other conversations) - but I want the best CT has to offer and I think the CB has that.

I have fallen in love with the CT in the short 3,500 miles it worked,- despite all the crap I’m going through with my current AWD CT- there is no other truck or new car I’d be willing to get now.

The last time I saw mine was on the wrecker with the high beams still on blinding everyone on the road as it piggybacked to the SC at midnight in a town I do not know. (CT froze up and could not turn off lights and parking brake was disabled so it had to be tied down tight and wobbled back and forth on that wrecker).

This is a very personal choice. Both vehicles are incredibly good. Your mind gets tuned to the driving dynamics. I rarely use Chill mode in my Beast. It’s an INCREDIBLE driving experience. If you are someone who enjoys nice acceleration, then Beast will absolutely not disappoint you. If you are all about point A to point B, then AWD is more than enough.

If your kids love roller coaster, they will go crazy over Beast. Just drive safe! ??

I owned a Model S Plaid, traded in for FS AWD and debated the beast. Ultimately prefer RWD, two lockers and better efficiency for a truck. Either was going to be much slower than a Plaid and nearly a year later I’m happy with my choice. Similar suburban use cases with three teenage boys hauling sports stuff and Home Depot runs. The AWD has been tested in the high 3’s 0-60, already quicker than it’s safe to drive. Shaving a little off that to go FWD and lose a locker, if it’s ever needed, felt like a bad truck trade off.
