Brilliant marketing and de-contenting by Tesla. I wish they would have made the rolling tonneau optional.

The 18” wheels look like steelies with a funky looking wheel cover.

This will make great option for off-road wheels with dedicated off-road tires

Looking at this, and taking purely a DESIGNER POINT OF VIEW, from one armchair expert, l DIG this ‼

I haven't read through all the post but it seems (based on price, what you get, etc), the AWD is the sweet spot.

I DO think Tesla should have maintained the seat cooling ability and the outlets in bed of the truck. These options couldn't have been too expensive to include. Once the RWD is available, the media, youtubers, etc are going to have a field day on some of the cuts Telsa made to bring the price down.

I thought with the slower than anticipated sales, they may cut the prices on the AWD and the Cyberbeast (excluding the tax break). but with the introduction of the RWD drive, seems unlikely now.
Seems like they just downgraded some things to make the AWD look more attractive.

For those asking here’s how the back of the bed looks with soft cover tonneau. You can clearly see the mounting points are still present. Not sure if there is still a power connector but rail mounting points are present @ABILISK

It’s not bad looking they did a good job with a retro fit replacement, but it can be easily cut. I think that’s why I appreciate the vault locker we have now. Not to mention it can be stood on. More of a party trick but still super cool from a motorized cover

To me, off-road capability is a HUGE part of why I wanted a Cybertruck. 2wd is an automatic no go regardless of feature packaging.

It’s page 17 and I haven’t seen any talk of crossbar mounting points. Did they at least keep them over the bed? Wish they had kept them in all 4 positions on all trims. They couldn’t have saved more than $100 per truck with that move.
According to what I read, they're still there, just the facia over them is a flat piece without covers.

Most people that don't have a CT will not be comparing to the level that we do. All they will be looking at is the after-rebate price of $62500 or their lease rate.
Indeed, this forum does a great job of digging deep—though I have to disagree with the idea that most people won’t compare specs and trims the way we are here.

As many have already pointed out (we should run a poll!), the RWD Cybertruck feels too stripped down—especially for folks who were never truck buyers until CT came along.

Sales numbers will tell the story soon enough, but here’s my take:
The barebones RWD was a misstep. It chips away at the “halo effect” by cutting key features that made CT iconic. That opens the door for detail-focused buyers to explore more (future) polished options—like the Scout (2027), or even an EREV (2027) with a more approachable design.

For now, my excitement has cooled. After waiting patiently for six years, I’m not convinced the current offering meets expectations or justifies the price. I’ll revisit in a few years—hopefully when I can pick one up under $50K—after weighing it against Scout, EREV, and others.

Just my two cents.

Unfortunately, no. You guys probably won't hear much from me, if anyone noticed.
  1. The price is still above inflation by about $5k+
  2. My spouse is currently unemployed due to the market
  3. Our investments are... ?
  4. And weirdly, Tesla is giving me an error page when I try to configure to see.
    IMG_1692.jpeg
  5. They have not emailed me since the advertisement for the 1.99 APR, either.

I can't commit to a new truck while spouse isn't getting income. We need that money to you know, eat and stuff.

It is a shame. I have always enjoyed reading all your contributions to this forum. Was looking forward to you getting your CT to share your experiences. Hopefully your spouse can find a good job soon, investments turn, and you are eventually able to get one of these beauties.

Wish you the best!

2WD trim included a standard mechanical locking rear differential. That setup will get you out of most situations.

The 2WD party trick?

Tesla didn't name the RWD trim the Endurance Hauler for nothing. 362 miles of range with a bed cover. That's phenomenal for a 123 kWh battery pack and a pickup truck they weighs over 3 tons.
I agree! It looks like you ordered RWD. Congratulations! I’m sure you are going to love it.
