I 3rd this.. and I’m that customer! I’ve been contemplating the mars rack for a few weeks now, even drove an hour to check it out on another members truck. One of my hesitations is wind noise and the other is that it is quite spendy once you convert to Canadian $. Also recently read a post from mars that there is a wind deflector in the works…. Now I’m wondering if the rack will change to fit the deflector? Will the deflector work with the 7” thick tent I’m considering? I just want to buy this setup once! ?‍♂
Thanks for asking the questions! The new wind deflector will work seamlessly with our rack system, and tent. No changes are being made??

I’m sure both tents are great, but you guys should simply make it right and stop trying to spin this into an advertisement opportunity. Take back the old tent, recoup your costs by listing it as a demo or open box, and sell him the new one he actually wanted. You couldn’t ask for a better customer (he promotes your products on here all the time) and you should take care of him.
From a business standpoint, I believe this type of discussion is better suited for private messages rather than being aired publicly. While I may not share the same perspective, I do respect that this is MARS customer base and this platform receives a significant amount of visibility. I trust that MARS will ultimately make the right call. I can't fault them though—without innovation, I wouldn’t be driving what I am today. Just my two cents.

***UPDATE***

Skillfully resolved by @Mars Adventure Gear! See my other updates.

If you’re near/in Utah I would consider taking the Basecamp off your hands and free you up for the Aeroblade. My issue, ironically re: Mars’ dev program, is I want it mounted on a full-size enclosed cap, a la CybertruckCo’s design
?‍♂
I’m not far and if I end up with no other options I’m definitely open to this! Thanks for reaching out and I’ll be sure to DM you after I hear back from Mars.

I agree with this and I reached out to Mars via email. I definitely want to talk to someone about this and see what the options are. I’m a fan of their products and I’m a fan of the tent that I have. I didn’t really come here to make a scene about it, it just genuinely caught me off guard when I saw their post about a brand new tent two days after I got the one that they just sold me.

There’s just no question that I would want to go for the lightest and slimmest option, and I just wish they had given a roadmap of some sort to let people know this was going to be coming (again, literally days after they shipped their premier tent).

Doesn’t mean what I have is bad or that it’s not possible that I would like it more. Immediately, I can tell that because of the way it’s hinged the Aeroblade will not have the cool window (and thus ventilation) at the foot of the tent like the Base Camp does. But, this thing is an adjunct to my travel trailer and when it comes down to it, I just want to be able to travel as lightly as possible with this back-up option. And it would’ve been really nice to know that it was coming.

Even Apple understands that when they release a product and catches someone unawares who has purchased the old one, that it’s in their interest to make that right, so, I don’t think this is really a tough call.

I fully understand that there are trade-offs, it’s not having notice of the options that seems unfair to me. And just like Heavy Spoilers always says, if you’re gonna do something like this - you really oughta “Warn a Brother!”

Like I said at the outset, I’m “nonplussed,” I’m not outraged or apoplectic about this! However this turns out, it’ll be fine!

Thanks for all of you who have voiced your support. Really means a lot!

Lastly, I’ll just say this—I'm a firm believer that MARS isn’t the kind of company that will leave you high and dry. From everything I’ve experienced and seen, they stand behind their products and their customers. In a world where a lot of companies cut corners or disappear when things get tough, MARS has always shown integrity and commitment. That kind of trust isn’t easy to come by, and it’s why I continue to support them wholeheartedly.

@dalton108 Everything you shared is completely valid, and I truly hope nothing I said came across as dismissive or made you feel otherwise. Your feelings are 100% valid, and you have every right to feel the way you do. I respect that, and I appreciate you being open about it.

Yeah, I can report they’ve already reached back out to me and we’re talking about how to solve it now.

Accountability seems to start at the top of the company and as a business owner, I respect the hell out of that!!!!

Thanks. ETA on the deflector? And also considering the 50” light bar…
Should be able to start shipping the deflector in a week!

This is resolved!

@Mars Adventure Gear have been exemplary in their responsiveness and most importantly, understanding of my concerns.

I felt heard and valued (and I’m basically nobody)! Thank you Ivan and team!

My situation is an edge case and they would’ve been well within their legal rights to tell me, “hey man we’re sorry, but there’s not a lot we can do.”

Also, as a lawyer, I certainly could’ve attempted to bully them into something, but that kind of thing is generally counterproductive and not really not how I operate (unless I need to in order to vindicate a client’s rights). Then, I do what I must.

Basically, you saw the vast majority of my interaction with Mars here. What you don’t see here is the express terms of our resolution and I’ve been asked to keep that confidential, and I will honor that request.

It’s a big, heavy, awkward item to ship and so returns are challenging, as I’m sure you all understand. Suffice it to say that @IntoTheRain916’s faith was well placed and I am a happy camper once again!

Looks great. I’d love if it fit within the bed on the L-tracks but compact enough for the tonneau to close all the way.

I actually finally made a decision and went with the Tesla OEM crossbars today after a month of research. There is almost nothing the MARS bars can do that the Tesla cannot. The one exception is their side sail outside Mollie panels but in the end, I think these are a bad idea. I think these are mainly for the looks and don’t offer any functionality annd result in increased drag. I’ve been watching quite a few videos on the scam of overlanding gear and how you really don’t need to buy into all the unnecessary gear that’s mainly for show. The side sail Mollie panels are the perfect example of this. If you have a truck, there is almost no reason to mount anything on the outside of it except for antennas and things like the Starlink, which can be easily mounted to the Tesla OEM crossbars.

Where is the picture of this on the cybertruck? Also, can this be easily mounted over the top of the cab without getting in the way of the bed in the back?
