Minor correction. You can definitely fit a full size bike. Giant Reign E+ in size XL. The length of the bike is over 6 ft , almost 80 inches.

Ps. While obviously this is your write up, the current state of FSD is even worse. You didn’t go into FSD UX while towing. Even a bike rack in the tow hitch is enough to make it go squirmy and weave all over the lanes. Lots to do as you say but it will get done.

Good point.
What I meant to say is that you can't fit two full-size bikes in with the tonneau closed over it. So basically it doesn't really offer secure bike transport options if you're with a partner or group. I do have one of the over-tailgait setups (5 bikes) that is pretty stable, and I have combination locks and a chain that feed through the bed mounts, but it still doesn't stop someone from messing with your bikes if they want to.
We do carry our two folding bikes in the back sometimes, and those will fit under the tonneau.
