I bought a cybertruck. It’s not what it was purported to be.
It was a foundation series, the entire package was never delivered. To compensate it’s customers credit was placed in a “Tesla Wallet “ in the Tesla app. At this point I have $1,800.00 that will disappear in December. When TheTesla Shop offered Xpel tinting in the app, I thought this was an opportunity to use that credit. Well, surprise! It’s not. Tesla doesn’t allow you to use its play money to keep cooler in its rolling solar oven.

Try and purchase Xpel tint from the app and you’ll need to use your own new money. Some of what you’ll be paying goes to Tesla, right off the top, then Xpel corporation takes a cut, above what they earn selling the film. The installer gets what’s left. No wonder all tint shops aren’t participating. In effect what you’re doing is becoming an EM accomplice as he swindles the next guy.

I appreciate your reply. I find little super about super charging. I tried one once, wait for a space, fend off the guy who jumped into the spot I was waiting for. Wait while you charge. Pay much more for the juice my own Hundai Heavy Industry Solar array is pumping out to the grid.

What would you consider to most effective use of the credit, given the shelf life of the funds and the limited eligible items available?

I’ve thought tires, but needing to store them until needed in the heat of south Florida wouldn’t be practical.

Probably, the best return is on buying Universal Chargers and selling them.

Is this post a joke? The poster cannot truly be this naive. Who would purchase a vehicle without written proof of what is going to be delivered with the vehicle? When I ordered my Cybertruck I took screen shots of everything they showed me regarding what would be provided with the vehicle. Then they sent me an email showing many if not all of these things and I took a screen shot of that in case I mistakenly deleted the email.

The compensation from Tesla for [whatever] has been discussed here ad infinitum. Did the poster know about CTOC before ordering the CT? It might not be easy to find every discussion but they can be found and the discussions are always helpful. Was the OP ignorant or simply lazy? I know that many have been frustrated with the credits only being valid for a year (or whatever timeframe) as many items in the store were not available and could not be ordered until they were in stock. Hopefully that problem has been resolved in recent months.

As a happy owner of a Cybertruck it seems to me that it is [much] more than it was 'purported to be' and I cannot see this being a serious post.

I wonder how many Tesla owners would agree with you about supercharging. Around home I almost exclusively use our wall connectors to charge our Teslas and the electricity rates are whatever the utility charges. Not happy about that but in good company. When we go on road trips we of course use superchargers exclusively and have had very uniform and good experiences with them in the CA, NV, UT, AZ, CO, NM, OR, and WY highway areas. Sure, in cities we have seen crowding and bad behavior but that isn't just about supercharging, sadly.

No joke serious reply. Day one reservation holder, Under 2,000 serial number. When my truck was delivered, it was the first Cybertruck I saw. Don’t you remember when they first became available, Tesla only had them displayed only in a few locations. Even if you traveled to see one, you couldn’t sit in it, or touch it they were all roped off.

The introductory video is still viewable on the web. I thought EM was a genius. Not just because of Tesla and Space X, but I thought global satellite internet, giving everyone a voice with Twiter, expanding the human presence beyond the planet and so much more. He couldn’t maintain it. Few people have accomplished as much. But I purchased what he stated would be his pinnacle vehicle, at a time I was still a fan.

Keeping all that has transpired since that video, puts the truck in perspective. It’s a vehicle and trivial. That said it’s not a genius design or execution. My truck has recalls for the throttle pedal, battery cable, wiper motor, front inverter, rear inverter, cant rails etc… its driving features still lag behind other Tesla models. It traps solar heat like it’s intended to be an oven, even now Tesla sees the “stainless stele exoskeleton” is not a good enough idea to use for other cars.

But, back to the topic, I haven’t seen any information to this point indicating that the newly added to the Tesla Store Xpel tinting wouldn’t be eligible for spending Tesla Wallet Funds. I saw today a member post he bought a new Cybertruck for half of what I paid. Given that, and all the recalls, and software features not on par with other models, don’t you think we should have been allowed to use our Tesla wallet funds to purchase tinting?

A lot of people have had issues with expiring credit after the Foundation series and Qmerit etc.
One thing I would 100% buy would be an extra windshield wiper or two, you are going to need them at some point and only Tesla sells them. That won't put much of a dent in it though.
For the rest of the credit some people have done chargers and resold but understand you will likely have to ship and take a little bit of a loss on that.

I’ve had the truck for almost year and a half. I’ve just a little over 3,500 miles on the odometer. It’s admittedly the most comfortable road vehicle I own, especially if I remember to pre cool it. I can’t say it’s the fastest, most maneuverable, longest range or even most fun. I’ve only once felt the need to charge away from home, but the truck is used with its 80% charge range in mind. I wonder how many Tesla owners would rather the truck went the 500 miles expected when it was introduced.
