Been trying to get MyQ to work for a year. In my Rural area where cell phone coverage is poor at best, it just doesn’t work. Tried changing router on MyQ hub two days ago. Nightmare, since then have spent over 20 hours trying to get it to work. Time spent with MyQ tech support, three hours, resulted in worse problems and resulted in all manual clickers are now non-functional. SOMEONE NEEDS TO “YELL” in Elons ear” MyQ is not a solution, but is a problem. I WANT HOMELINK, it may not be high tech or sexy, BUT IT WORKS!!!!!!

There are aftermarket mirrors that have homelink built in. Cheaper than a MyQ subscription.

Good idea, except that is just another clicker and is not integrated into Tesla programming to auto open and auto close which I am used to with my 2018 MX and 2022 M3. A 2024 CT should not be a step backwards. Besides I threw away the worthless CT rear view mirror. At least for your suggestion the rearview mirror would have a purpose as a dumb clicker.

I'm not interested in a MyQ subscription OR a manual Homelink clicker that can be stolen. That was the beauty of having Homelink built into my Model 3. A safe and secure garage door opener that ALWAYS worked. I wish to God CT would get an official Homelink install. I would be all over that.

They also have powered mirror/screens that run CarPlay and Android auto. I have a a HomeKit garage door opener, and it shows up on the “dashboard“ of CarPlay when I get close to my house. You would still need an internet connection, but it doesnt have to be as reliable. Also you would have CarPlay integration. I also used HomeAssistant with my garage door, which can do the location based opening. It’s a bit more complicated to setup, but less than 20 hours worth.

It works perfectly for me. The subscription stings but I do like that it is smarter than my M3’s homelink that will close an already open garage if I don't cancel it in time.

Also, it's been working perfectly for me since 2019 and allows me to operate or check on the garage from my phone which is great.

Very glad it works for you. In a rural area with spotty cell phone coverage, it doesn’t.

Mine works perfectly for both my truck and wife's Y. Is it really MyQ fault that you have bad cell phone coverage?

Very happy for you, it does not work well with out strong cell phone/wifi coverage. The fact that it works for you is great but it does not match the reliability of Homelink in areas with out the connectivity that you enjoy. Both are very true, works well for you. Worthless and a real step backwards for me. MyQ sucks for many of us, I wish Elon knew it. Just go to Amazon reviews and see the stories by people who give one star ratings. Sure many are 5 star ratings. But Elon with dropping Homelink, has made a world of Haves and Have-nots. It would be great to have a classless society when it comes to enjoying the great features of owning a Tesla.

Yes, wouldn’t it be nice if it was built into the Tesla, it isn’t rocket science, you would think Space X could figure it out. Oh ya, I think Elon knows someone that works over at Space X.

I live in the real world, with real world conditions. If Elon were to have the system activated via the Starlink system being implemented for SOS txt msgs perhaps all of us would enjoy our Teslas that auto open and close or Garage doors. Let’s leave MyQ in the dust and do something that works for everyone.

Gotta disagree here that Homelink is better. It has no awareness of a door being open or closed. So with homelink id show up and it would close doors when I want them open. MyQ is $45 a year for a very expensive truck. And works with all doors and cars you have. I have Homeassistant too, but for the masses, MyQ is the right move here, IMO.
