I hope not. Monopolizing an entire line when the cheap models are coming out does give pause.

I live in a rural area and everyone has a pickup truck. The CT gets a ton of positive attention, everywhere I drive it people want to look at it up close and talk about it.

A few observations:
1. Most people assume it is more expensive than it is. Everyone has only seen that $100k+ number, not the $80k AWD (which is what I have).
2. Most people don't even know it's electric and had never given the slightest thought to an electric truck. Not sure what that means, but it is interesting.
3. The stuff that really wins people over is outlets in the truck, the tonneau cover, and the air suspension.
4. The stuff that catches people's eye is the look, the rear-wheel steering, the minimal interior.

I have had at least 7 people tell me they want to buy one. Cost is definately an issue, but also the perception of cost.
My experience with it exactly.

I have a Foundation Beast. When I showed the truck to a contractor recently and he asked the cost. He was shocked because he thought the CT was over $200k.
It's probably a good time for Tesla to start advertising and educating buyers.

Friends, Tesla designed and built the Cybertruck because they wanted to, not because they had to.

In order from top to bottom priority, Tesla is:

An Energy company.
An Ai company.
A Robotics company.
An Automotive company.

What they will be doing with microgrids and coal/gas peaker plants (to utter extinction soon), autonomous driving (rideshare with robotaxi), manufacturing and processing (Optimus) will completely blow people away.

The general public is blissfully unaware of the utter behemoth that Tesla is about to become. Cybertruck sales are not even a blip on the radar. In fact, I have always seen this truck as a roaming billboard for what is coming next. A living technology demo to display the amazing things to come.

Stop reading clickbait headlines and taking them for face value; they are just delaying and denying the inevitable. Tesla is building an entire ecosystem along with SpaceX and TBC that the majority of humans can't even understand (and when I try to explain it, they immediately scoff at me).

Yeah the amount of interest in the truck doesn't seem to equal the actual amount of sales. It's very strange. Lots of people want to ask questions and look at it but not many are actually buying them. The amount of attention is high but not the sales.

Disagree. If an audience needs someone to spoon-feed them a commercial while they are watching their precious Andy Griffith episode, then they aren't the target audience anyway. Someone who isn't smart enough to seek out the best piece of tech on the road isn't going to see the value proposition anyway; much less the paradigm shift it takes to successfully operate and adapt to an EV.

Especially when the most common question I get is:

Tesla has always relied on Musk's promotional skills with far better results than advertising. The catastrophe is that he has turned those toward market destruction instead. I don't see any way that gets turned around soon.

The problem with that is number four is where the money has come from since inception. That was always supposed to change "next year." It never has and won't any time soon.

Just read they only sold 5000 trucks per quarter. Will they stop making it? Does that mean I better hold on to it? Or get rid of it before the company collapses and I’ll never be able to get it repaired?

I know it’s electrek and they always seem to hate Tesla nowadays but still…

I’m LEASING mine, my first lease ever! However, IF they stop making them, I’ll probably buy it out at the end as it is too cool to never have another.

ok. ? we will see soon enough. Tesla energy is such a market sleeper that people flatout don't believe me lmao.

V3 megapacks are right around the corner, along with the Tesla semi to deliver them. Let's visit this conversation in a little while.

Informative advertising targeting the ideal customer using a variety of channels could educate prospective buyers who have no clue about Tesla. I think it's finally time for this since sales have declined. EV buyers probably look at all options. I suspect gas vehicle buyers don't bother looking at EVs.
Too many potential buyers think Tesla is very expensive and have zero clue to the features. I don't drive electric to save the world from climate change. I drive it for the superior tech.

The stuff that really wins people over is outlets in the truck
This is a real light bulb moment for a lot of truck drivers that I talk to.
Outlets in the truck are indeed a great feature -- one of the top innovations in pickups in recent years. However, this is not exclusive to the Cybertruck. For example, Ford is heavily pushing "Pro Power Onboard" in its electric, hybrid, and even gas trucks. And the "Mega Power Frunk" in the Lightning tops the CT frunk.

Furthermore, if you are in a rural area with a lot of pickup drivers, chances are that the nearest Ford dealer is a lot closer and more convenient than the nearest Tesla store. In fact, there are still many rural states that don't have a single Tesla store or service center.

I assume you mean in the context of mass market, traditional advertisements? Why bother spending 10's of millions on that (just to get started in that sector) if the information they would otherwise seek is already available on every major platform? And for free, at that.
