The Cyberbeast is supposed to have a 301 mile range, so 86% should be 259 miles but it says 183. The truck only has 29 miles on it and Tesla says it takes some time to stabilize. Just wanted to know other experiences on this: is this low mileage normal for a new vehicle, how long did it take to show you had 301 mile range, etc. This is my second Cyberbeast and I don't remember this being an issue with the first one but then I don't remember how many miles it had on it when I received it. It always showed 301 miles at 100%.
Maybe there is a learning curve? It was also showing reduced acceleration and performance (turtle mode) when I drove it to the supercharger just a bit ago but the alert disappeared at the end of the charging session. Planning on a longer drive tomorrow to get it wrapped: says I will arrive with 20% and it's only 103 miles... Yikes, I hope this straightens out.

What does your Energy Consumption screen show? If you multiply efficiency, 291.8Wh/mi x projected range, 193mi, and divide by the remaining SOC, 46%, you'll get the battery size that the BMS thinks you have

In my case, it's 291.8 x 193 / .46 =122,429.13 =Wh. There's going to be some rounding error, but in general, you should see 122kWh+.

Sounds like this is your first EV? Do yourself a favor and:

1) switch to battery percentage instead of estimated miles.

2) treat your truck better than you treat your phone when it comes to charging.

I don't think that's going to be accurate because it was a very short drive, only a few miles. Also it was very hot, 101 degrees. I guess I will wait and see what it does tomorrow. I looked up my records for the other one and it only had 15 miles on it when I picked it up. I don't remember this happening with it. It's trickle charging right now, and at 85%, it says 179 miles. That can't be right, it should be more like 256.

No, I've been driving a Model X since 2018. I use both % and miles. My other Cyberbeast, I've had for a year, it has a rated range of 301 miles and it always shows that when at 100%. I do charge it to 100% for day trips where there is no supercharger and I need the range, but it never stays there: I top it off right before I leave.

Probably just not enough data yet. Suggest charging once all the way to 100% and then driving to as low of a SOC as you’re comfortable.
I too have been an EV owner for a very long time and I still use miles on the display. Just a habit.

That's what I'm thinking. Tomorrow's drive should help. Guess I'm just being paranoid.

The BMS calculation is not based upon your drive. It just tells us what the truck is calculating.

Just keep driving. The BMS is calibrating based on current driving data. 29 miles at probably 600+kw will produce that mileage output. Same thing happened on my Model Y where it was only 150 at 80%. After about 500 miles of normal driving and a few charge cycles up to 80%, corrected it to a more normal range 265+ at 80%.

The Battery Management System (BMS) can drift over time, since the pack capacity is estimated based on charge/discharge cycles. It will improve accuracy to periodically recalibrate by letting it sleep (at least 1 hr) below 10% SoC, and then charging to 100%.

But that should only help it better identify the top and bottom of the pack capacity. I'd agree that showing less than 200mi of range is odd, and probably due to a skewed efficiency estimation, which will be improved by just driving it.

(To be fair, I'm not aware of how the efficiency is determined when not driving; during a drive, current conditions are used and I find such range estimates to be very accurate.)

Obviously get off this app and schedule a service appointment immediately, LOL

Update on this: I was going to drive it a couple hours today, but getting 2 HVBATT alerts: one, it put it in turtle mode twice: yesterday then again this morning; two, it would not charge on my wall charger nor on 110 outlet. Thinking all this might be related to the mileage showing. In any case, Tesla can't help remotely with HV problems, so I made a service appointment and cancelled today's plans...
