What’s with all the bad info in this thread? There’s not a single Tesla model that adjusts rated range based off driving habits. The BMS can drift over time, especially if you routinely charge to a low SOC, but no new vehicle should show a wildly inaccurate rated range. Setting it to percentage view would only mask an obviously defective battery.

was it new when you got it?
sounds like a big mess, good luck to you and keep us posted
Yes, new Foundation Series. Bought with the promotions. I was told build date was 9/24. I can't imagine sitting around all that time would have caused problems, I hope not.

I hope that’s not the case that his battery is defective. Just trying to be of help and sharing what I think I would do to start with in the same situation.
That said, I’d also document and open a service ticket.

Read my post about what happened this morning. 2 HVBATT alerts. Something is going on with the HV battery and I'm thinking now that discrepancy is part of it. Service appointment next Tuesday but I asked to get in sooner if possible. Thanks for your message, all that info given to me didn't make a lot of sense. Maybe Tesla should just swap out the battery. Or maybe it's something simple. IDK diddly squat about those things.

Seems like they could swap it out if that is the case. Service just messaged me and said bring it by anytime if it won't charge at all. I told her I was able to charge at a Supercharger yesterday, but that was before the HVBATT alert. I'd like to get it over there sooner than later before something else pops up and it won't let me drive it.

Sounds like this is your first EV? Do yourself a favor and:

1) switch to battery percentage instead of estimated miles.

2) treat your truck better than you treat your phone when it comes to charging.
Wrong - drive it like a rented mule. That's a quote from Elon Musk. Don't about worry battery life, and only a little about range.

Follow-up and end of story! I'm picking up my Beast today, as Tesla now says it is fixed! What the technician found was one of the connectors responsible for determining the HV battery current was not properly seated, causing a lack of information needed by the HV management system. As well as keeping the truck from charging and putting it in limp mode, it also affected the range estimate. Vehicle was discharged and subsequently supercharged by Service and is now showing 100% and 301 miles as it should! Moral of the story, if something seems off, it probably is.

Crazy problem, crazy solution. Glad you stuck to your guns.

The Cyberbeast is supposed to have a 301 mile range, so 86% should be 259 miles but it says 183. The truck only has 29 miles on it and Tesla says it takes some time to stabilize. Just wanted to know other experiences on this: is this low mileage normal for a new vehicle, how long did it take to show you had 301 mile range, etc. This is my second Cyberbeast and I don't remember this being an issue with the first one but then I don't remember how many miles it had on it when I received it. It always showed 301 miles at 100%.
Maybe there is a learning curve? It was also showing reduced acceleration and performance (turtle mode) when I drove it to the supercharger just a bit ago but the alert disappeared at the end of the charging session. Planning on a longer drive tomorrow to get it wrapped: says I will arrive with 20% and it's only 103 miles... Yikes, I hope this straightens out.
Put your CT in 'Chill' mode, your battery and tires will love you...I've got 20K miles on my Foundation CT - due to putting it into chill mode day 1.

PS: The tire tread still looks good - perhaps get 25k miles from them.

I'm not a chill mode kind of driver! Tried it once and said, nope! Can't drive like this.
