Does it bother anyone else when people assume the Cybertruck is being “given away”?

Ever since I took delivery, I've heard a lot of

“Wow, you must’ve gotten a deal”

or

“Bet they’re trying to give those away”

Lol actually my personal experience was one available in my area that matched what I wanted. I didn’t get any discount, but good incentives were available at the time, but really nothing crazy and certainly nothing that really swayed my decision.

I've been messing with people and saying "yeah I got a free generator for my home included with it". A guy at my work today was like "no way really?!" ?

Odd how many people think the CT is some kind of sales failure because of media outlets that clearly hate Elon. Meanwhile, nobody mentions the Ram 2500 sitting for over 200 days on lots, or the Titan getting discontinued, or the Hummer EV that’s unsellable. Even the F-150 has way more inventory sitting than it should.

CT isn’t perfect, but it’s VERY different, and people are still buying it, with no "discounts". I'm actually pretty impressed by that.

Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience or thought process lol

I actually like it better than the perception I’m driving an expensive flashy car.
that was never my intent.
I see where you’re coming from but all that noise will die and the cybertrucks that are now being “given away” will actually be quite expensive.
That’s how supply and demand works

True. That's a good point too. I guess that's what people meant when they told me the CT will be polarizing. On one hand, it's perceived as expensive and flashy while on the other, people think it must've been given away.

Maine Habs fan, what? There are two of us? Just installed my interlock and receptacle yesterday, to use my CT as a generator replacement, ha!

I have used the “it came with a home generator” line before. this quiets the haters down pretty quick.
I live in a hurricane prone area and generators are very valuable.
I’ve found that when I talk to a hater, they don’t seem to know anything about the CT’s technology and what it can do.

I tell people I spent 20k extra to get it early and another 20k for a launch speed that I’ve used 4 times, but your car is cute.
?
But, if they are using the word cute they are probably the people you want to check your car out anyway. So….40k well spent I say.

I’m the one calling their car cute in this scenario, I could have made that clearer

I haven't had anyone say that to me...but the people who do say that are showing how they only listen / read legacy media and don't realize there's a HUGE bias against Tesla. To your point, other trucks aren't selling well either...and if the Cox Automotive Q2 sales numbers are anywhere accurate, it shows the CT isn't doing too terribly compared to others given it's high price.

I love your reply of a 'free generator was included!' I'll have to use that one...lol

Yeah I'd just shut out the noise - $80K+ Trucks and everyone's trying to compare it to $60K trucks. The things they want do not currently exist unless they go used. Pain of having interest but then seeing the car payment or quoting prices from 5 years ago. Much like the Model Y back in 2021-2023. Was very easy to get the Model Y price up around $80K then down to $45K, then the debacle with deprecation, $7500 tax credit - leaves a lot of people upside down.

I have yet to experience any hate in mine in my first month of ownership (although my friend loaned me his at the height of Elon hate so I did get one middle finger from your typical looking elder Vermont woman Subaru driver :geek:). However, it has been outweighed with more positive experiences, and seeing the amount of kids absolutely freaking out when they see it has made owning one absolutely worth it. Let people think what they will, and enjoy the ride. ?

People are silly. Then again, the "unsellable" Hummer EV is selling as well as the CT.
