happy to see that this thing works on the CT. when I initially looked at it, the manufacturer told me that it wouldnt work and that i would need to use the ramble rack. but this ultraswing is more versatile!

Yes, but there is a message that FSD may be degraded, rear camera view occluded.

I sincerely hope that the next CT revision gives us more control over digital mirrors. I want to be able to remove my physical mirrors, but I can't yet because we don't have a native solution for occlusions like this.

Telsa, please give us the ability to add wired camera modules so we can place them higher up, even even behind trailers! Makes me realize that they should have included an ethernet port with PoE for us to tap into.

I agree. Very short-sighted in failing to pre-wire the truck. Especially because with the tonneau closed you cannot use the existing physical rearview mirror - and also because that little sliver of a mirror is pretty garbage all on its own.

It sticks out ~ 8" more than the stock receiver.

Thanks for this picture, makes it very clear. This is a good solution for lots of use cases. Probably not for rugged trails though, the aero hit from carrying on the roof rack sucks but I don't worry about it on the trail.

Looks good! How much past the bumper does the tire stick out? Almost looks like you'd need to nearly take up two spots if it's a pull through spot.

It sticks out 20". I'm hoping I can swing it open 90° and sneak in between the Supercharger and the bollard if it's too tight.

Unrelated to this particular tire mount (which looks very good btw) I was driving with a trailer hitch bike rack and had the same message. Used FSD anyway. It was noticeably worse which surprised me. The truck had a lot more trouble centering in the lane and I had to take over a few times. Also seemed to drive slower than usual. Wondering if you had the same experience.

I love it. Retains the full towing capacity. Has an extra reciver for accessories. Just expensive, especially in CDN. Included license plate holder not shown.
How do you figure this retains the full towing capacity?

The tongue weight limit is 1,100 lbs. and the towing capacity is 11,000 lbs. Assuming you want to maintain the 10% rule (tongue weight is 10% of trailer weight), then for every 100 lbs. you add to the hitch you lose 1,000 lbs. of towing capacity. The spare tire alone weighs over 100 lbs. and I imagine the tire carrier weighs in at another 50 lbs. This implies a loss of 1,500 lbs. of towing capacity.

How heavy is the carrier anyway?

This leaves aside the question of why people think they need to carry a spare tire at all, when we have ubiquitous communication and tire repair kits and the fact that modern tires are very reliable when properly maintained.
