Bike rack with lights triggers trailer mode

I have the Kuat Pro X bike rack and it has LED full function rear lights incorporated into it. It triggers the trailer mode when you plug it in. Essentially it renders the lights an annoyance. Anybody on here figure a way around this bug? According to Chat the lights pull too much current. Advice appreciated.

I have not one, but two light bars connected to my trailer light output on my CT (one on the bumper, and I ran wires to my light bar on top of my truck for the other one). Every time I get in the CT it pops up that I am in trailer mode, and every time I hit the little gear icon and then turn off trailer mode .. ya, kinda annoying, but it isn't a huge deal for me... worth it for the extra lights. Will post a pic soon

yep same. I added lights to my rack and have to toggle off of trailer mode every time

Thanks. I didn’t know it could be turned off. Chat suggested that I use this TEKONSHA 119148 ModuLite HD Protector Trailer Light Power Module & Installation Kit. It would require a separate power source for the lights. I may give it a shot

You might try the aux power output on the 7 pin connector. I'm not sure if it alone is enough to trigger trailer mode.
