There is a NDEW event near me this Sunday which is the largest general EV event in the area with some 50-75 EVs present, which is large for a conservative state like Kansas. I had planned to take my Halo Cybertruck to the event but have heard back from the event planners that they do not allow any vehicles to make a political statement. Evidently, they have an issue with the Halo Gauss Cannon mounted in the bed of the Halo Cybertruck - see attached image. I do not see how this makes any sort of political statement unless you are against defending Earth from Alien invasions. It would be like telling someone they could come dressed as Thor but they couldn't bring the hammer. In the words of the organizers of the event they said - "Side shows such as weaponry on your Halocybertruck will trigger a cultural militarization debate among the crowd, and distract everyone from our stated purpose of transportation." Which, for anyone who saw the Halo Cybertruck at the X Takeover that was not true at all. People were asking "Where did you get it?" "How did you make it?" "Can it shoot t-shirts" etc. The BBC even put their show host into the bed to pretend to fire the cannon so they could record it for their show. If the cannon helps attract people to come see the Cybertruck then isn't that a good thing. Look what you can do with a Cybertruck, you can have FUN with it, turn it into a Cosplay character of its own. If you have suggestions about how I can get the word out about this, social media contacts, etc. please let me know! Thanks!

Here's my take on this situation:

1) um... AWESOME! By far one of the coolest Cybertruck "cosplay" I have seen to date.
2) It's BBC - enough said
3) If it's taking place in a public setting / property - then, imo, it's fair game. However, if the event is taking place on a private space / property then unfortunately they make the rules and not much can be done about it. In some circumstances, even if it's on public property or at a public space, if they charge admission fee (or anything along those lines) it's considered a private event.
4) It is unfortunate that you're being targeted, however I think it's fair to say as Cybertruck owners we are all (pretty much) used to this fact.
5) Depending on how easy it is to assemble/disassemble, you could enter disassembled then assemble once in?

Event wise, is there anything that's stopping you from entering? Security? Gate? Private Space? In other words, why would you need permission in the first place?

Again, I don't see anything wrong with this; I think it's legendary. Perhaps they're just jealous you might steal the show? 🤣

Question, are there going to be other CT's at the event or are they just trying to keep you out of it because it is a CT?
Not that you wanna do it, but if you offered to remove the cannon - just to see what they say, would they let you enter then? I wonder if they are using the cannon as "Justification" for keeping you out.
I agree with what was said above, if it's a public area, screw them. If it's a private event that's on someones property or they have permits for then they decide what goes, no matter how stupid the rule is. In this case, I'd park it right out front of the event to draw people away from it.
Trigger a Cultural militarization debate, when did people get so soft?

Can you go without the gun? The wrapped truck is badass enough the gun’s sort of like the cherry on the amazingly decorated cake.

They're really saying "last year we had a real asshole make a stink over something stupid, and this year we just don't want the hassle"

🤷‍♂️

You have a giant gun in the bed of your truck. You have to realize that's not for everyone, right?

If it was me, I would park my truck in the nearest public parking space to the event and just hang out. People will come and check out your artwork.

Let the sissies sulk in their own filth.

Doesn't the US practice freedom of speech and expression? As long as @TeslaKen isn't promoting violence then it should be fine. It's just a prop, if people don't like it they can just look at the other 49 vehicles there.

OMG, how the US has fallen. A fake gun on a vehicle that is cosplaying as a truck saving humans from aliens in a game made almost 30 years ago is too "risqué" for them. I don't think you want to be part of that club. I do like the idea of you doing your own one-man event just outside of their event.

The government cannot stifle freedom of speech. A private event can do whatever they want in terms of controlling the messages displayed.

If they wanted to, the National Automobile Dealers Association could hold an event and make the rule that anyone suggesting that service departments shouldn't charge for procedures not performed be excluded. Or any mention of Tesla would have you removed. Or anyone suggesting that EVs were more economical than gas cars be kicked out.

It's only the government that cannot step on your right of free expression.

The car show is taking place in downtown Lawrence KS and an adjacent park. I do not know if the area will be roped off or blocked off in any way, but I don't think it is, at least it wasn't when I last attended a few years ago. Even if it is roped off I have had a couple of people suggest parking just outside the area and setting up a display. I've had 2 other Cybertruck owners volunteer to park next to me outside of the official event space.

Supposedly they like Cybertrucks and one was at their event last year (I know the owner), but they don't like the weapon system. They are OK with me parking it without the weapon system set up, but do you know what happens the moment I do that? I get question after question about "Where is the .50 cal?" "Where is the rocket launcher?" etc. etc. anyone who knows the game knows that there is a weapon of some sort in the back. They say things like "it would be a lot cooler with a weapon in the back" then what do I say? Go see the organizers who are being dicks? :) As my analogy above it would be like dressing up as Thor but you cannot bring the hammer, the look is incomplete without the Gauss cannon in back IMHO. Heck the wedding reception I did recently they wanted the weapon system in the back so I set it up. The wedding guests didn't break down into discussions about cultural militarization...

Yes, but do I want to? No. I went to a LOT of effort to create that Gauss Cannon, if you haven't seen the level of effort, perhaps a refresher course is in order, see these 2 articles: (Which I provided to the organizers as evidence as to why it should be allowed)
