A second steering wheel?

This is just food for thought.
I would like to see an optional upgrade with a second steering wheel on the passenger side, including the accelerator and brake pedals.

Several benefits of this would be:
1) One of the front-seat drivers/passengers can keep an eye on the road, while the other is prepared to take over.
2) We can let the main driver take a quick break (to catch up on emails, take naps, etc.) without having to pull over and physically switch drivers.
3) Both driver/passenger can keep all the settings for their comfort if we don't have to switch drivers physically.

I frequently travel with an associate who drives for me while I work on my laptop. I rarely drive in those situations. There have been many instances when I would like to "watch the drive" temporarily, when these needs arise. This would help make the trip smoother and safer, IMHO.

I wouldn't mind paying whatever the upgrade costs are, if there is such an option. I don't think it would be that difficult to install if we are applying a steer-by-wire and a steer-by-pedals system.

Sorry, I couldn't get the AI to generate a yoke or a console the correct size.

I'd be concerned with passengers accidentally messing things up while I drive. Too scary for me.

Negatives:
- Can’t stretch out and sleep in passenger seat.
- No one in the front would ever be allowed to be drunk, Could only pick up 3(barely) people to DD for them
- no one in the front could ever be under 16, or not have drivers license.
- Looks stupid

Doesnt seem like a it solves anything, you have to stop and charge every 2-3 hours anyway to charge, and if your on a road trip ”doing it right” its only about 1hr 30 min.

I'm not sure if you have tried FSD 14.2 yet, but it drives literally as good as a human driver, at least in my experience. Is it ready for the driver to not monitor the drive, watch movies, and send emails? Not quite, but we are getting there. If you don't have FSD, you should definitely try it asap.

I drove, excuse me, the truck drove yesterday to LAX and back home while I watched football the entire time. I wouldn't recommend anyone installing a phone mount to the top left corner of the touchscreen and looking straight ahead while the truck drives, as that would be wrong and potentially dangerous.

Obviously this is silly and will never be considered, but I'll play along too.

I think the biggest safety issue would be diffusion of responsibility. Who's driving? The truck? The driver? The passenger? All of a sudden paying attention to the road becomes no one's problem.

Yea this is actually a good idea and as cheap as it would be should have been implemented years ago.
The problem with "FSD is almost ready"for the last decade is it pushes viable band aids like this to the side. 10 years ago people would have said "yea but FSD will fix that soon" I hope that we are not waiting to take a nap in our trucks 5 years from now, complex problem but tired of waiting for "soon"

Patience Grasshopper - I'm up to 700 miles in FSD since 14.2
We need fewer steering wheels not more..
