I'm using my Cybertruck at a job site today. I want to leave the radio on while we're working but every time I close the door everything shuts off. How do I play the radio with the door shut and nobody sitting in it? Windows are down.

Why can't I roll my Cybertruck forward with my door open? All I want to do is roll forward at 2 mph while I look out the door at the ground to see where I'm at and the margins on the ground. How do I get the truck to do this?

From Grok:

For Music Inside the Vehicle (Heard Through Cabin Speakers)

  • Activate Camp Mode from the touchscreen: Go to Controls > Climate > Camp (or swipe up in the Climate menu).
  • This keeps the climate control, touchscreen, and media player active indefinitely while the vehicle is in Park.
  • Start your music (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music, USB, etc.) before or after enabling it.
  • The system stays on, allowing playback even with doors closed and no one inside.
  • Note: It uses some battery (typically 1-3% per hour depending on settings like temperature), but it's designed for extended use like camping or tailgating.
For Music Outside the Vehicle (Using External Speakers via Boombox)

  • First, enable Camp Mode as above — this is key to preventing shutdown when you exit.
  • Then, go to Toybox > Boombox > Select "Play Current Media" (or another option).
  • Play your desired music source in the Media Player.
  • Adjust external volume using the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel or the on-screen controls.
  • With Camp Mode active, playback through the external speakers (including the four corner speakers) should continue even after closing doors and walking away.
  • Some owners report needing to leave a window cracked or door slightly ajar if it stops, but Camp Mode generally resolves this for extended external play.
Additional Tips

  • You can control/monitor playback remotely via the Tesla app (e.g., adjust volume or skip tracks) while Camp Mode is on.
  • Avoid Sentry Mode if you want continuous music — it may interrupt or override with alarms, and recent updates add loud music only for threats (not continuous playback).
  • For short sessions without Camp Mode, tricks like leaving a door cracked or partially closed work, but they're less reliable and secure.

As far as I know, this isn't possible. The door ajar sensor will prevent it. Best you could do is angle the mirror down to see, maybe?

Excellent information, thank you! I will definitely try this tomorrow.

Others have covered the music.

As far as the door open, this is one of those "safety features" that should have the option of turning off but does not. On job sites or offroading due to not having as many cameras as the offroad Toyotas etc opening the door would be a nice option, but it isn't, hopefully something they will fix.

Camp Mode for music outside and Offroad Mode for opening the door while moving. Excellent!
