Thanks for the input. I agree it was FSD that was at fault for the collision, but I also realize I am supervising. Not sure if it's CT specific, but it baffles me how confidently it can drive in suburban traffic and then completely shit the bed when it comes to parking. 4 wheel steer makes lining up into a spot a total joke, yet there have already been a few of us that have sustained damage from FSDs dogwater parking lot performance.
Anyone not brainwashed can see: FSD is not 99% of the way there. The all-encompassing scope and confidence of such a statement signals ignorance. EVERY SINGLE COMPANY in the self driving space (including Tesla) has a defined ODD and is geo-fenced, but somehow our $8K software package is nearly ready to handle all weather/speeds/situations?
Straight up the worst part of the forum is the double think: "it can totally drive itself anywhere, but any mistakes are your responsibility...but Ewon said texting and driving in a few months so hold tight".
It's a cowardly practice to not take responsibility for FSD's actions when good-faith actors are experiencing damage as a result of its failures. FSD deserves credit when it does well and should equally be ridiculed for crashing into a contrasting paint wall/garage door entrance.
@Mark805 please don't drink the Kool-aid on this one. Straight up FSD's fault, Tesla won't do anything because you're not an influencer, just repair it and stay vigilant. Personally I'm done using it in parking lots and if Summon/Banish is released I wouldn't use that without Tesla explicitly taking responsibility for any harm resulting from it. I'm not going to court/jail for a company that is top 10 in the S&P.
On a positive note, Tesla's online parts service and free repair documentation is honestly amazing. Used them twice now, only crap part is shipping costs.
I do agree that FSD needs more fine tuning. Like in my instance, this should have been a no brainer for FSD as the only moving part was the CT and I believe it should have. It would be no different than a parking stall at the mall. It’s got a few flaws that need refinement.
