Wouldn’t using the CT’s battery increase the wear and tear of a high cost battery system? At the very least it’s more cycles that each cell is used and then the life expectancy is used up without adding miles on the odometer.

I’m concerned that there isn’t a universal way of tracking the cell cycles on a V2G vehicle.
For example, a 10k mile CT that is 4 years old could use have used up the entire life of the battery. Hypothetically speaking and new owner would have NO idea.

Am I missing something? (Of course, being able to use the CT’s battery increase as backup is awesome, I’m just looking for answers on this concern.)

Nope, that's exactly what it is. Every kWh provided to the grid is basically 2.5mi on your battery. Providing just 23kWh to the grid (2 hours of peak export) per day would add the equivalent of 21,000 miles of additional battery wear (and degradation) per year. Will Tesla add warranty provisions for V2G? I can't imagine they don't.

Depending on what they pay for the electricity I might gladly trade some degradation/range for $,$$$ or $$,$$$ in the bank over time.

True. Balancing the cost/benefit of course.

But, what if you wanted to do that with a used CT and your purchase ends up failing because they heavily used the CT as a power grid. I just bringing it up to help ensure that we have the discussion for coverage some how in the future.

Or else the value of V2G vehicles will tank as no one know how many cycles are left on the battery you buy used. Right?

Telsa does a similar thing with power walls as a virtual battery. The CT is 9 power walls. So you could make much bigger virtual batteries. But Powerwalls are LiPhosphate with multiple more charge cycles and the CT is not going to tolerate that. I had originally planned to use PowerShare to be off grid with solar and the CT functioning as batteries but PowerShare has been delayed and I decided it would be too hard on the batteries and Tesla might void my warranty. But if they are doing this maybe my warranty will be safe...if not the battery.

<Power by the Hour Pay>
Soon
Power Companies will all be Paying for CT power storage and Paying for CT power use.
During grid high use Power Companies must pay for your CT storage and CT power, or the Power Companies must start up $$$ big money expensive supplemental power plants during high grid use.
This would be ideal but as it stands now, the power company contracts specify "stationary" battery banks and have no provisions for mobile power such as the CT. I tried all I could to get ComEd to apply some DG rebates for my CT unsuccessfully. Had they supported it, I would have got a $35k+ rebate for just the CT alone.

Even if they do cover its usage under warranty for V2G usage, I still imagine that it will put some cycle wear on the vehicle battery that would cost you down the road. The reality is, can you save/produce more money using the CT for V2G vs the wear and cost of a replacement pack down the road? I am thinking it will not under normal circumstances. As it stands now, it seems more like a public service type operation from a cost perspective.

Actually, that makes sense. A Powerwall would always be ready to pull from, if the utility needed the amps. But if your CT is out driving, or was inadvertently unplugged, they wouldn't know it wasn't available until they tried to grab some to protect the grid.

I got the email for this, was thinking about signing up:

Your Cybertruck can already back up your home during an outage with Powershare Home Backup. Now you can do even more with our new product: Powershare Grid Support.

Powershare Grid Support is our Vehicle-to-Grid feature that lets you sell excess energy stored in your Cybertruck to the grid when demand is high—lowering your electricity bills and helping your community.

We’re opening a limited-time Early-Adopter Program and would love for you to be part of it. Here’s how to get started:
1. Sign up & complete the self-assessment – Click the link below, fill out the short questionnaire, and let us assess your eligibility for the early-adopter program.
2. Eligibility assessment– Our team reviews your answers and confirms whether you qualify. You will receive confirmation with next steps.
3. Hardware readiness check – As an early adopter, we verify that your home has the necessary hardware for Powershare Grid. If anything is missing, we’ll upgrade your home’s electrical system free of charge.
4. Interconnection application – Once the hardware is verified (or upgraded), we file the interconnection request with your local utility on your behalf and keep you informed of the status.
5. Approval & activation – After the utility approves the interconnection, we activate the Powershare Grid service, enabling you to export energy from your Cybertruck to the grid**, earn credits, and reduce your electricity bill

Take the first step today: Complete Self-Assessment

Right!!!!!!
They got time to deal with other projects that weren't promised at release, but don't bother to finish what they claimed they would produce.
I finally got an RMA for my gateway today (non-power wall) that started burning on first PowerShare test back in October.

No, a woman named Britney texted me first and then asked if I was interested in this and I replied yes, and she sent me the email
Please tell Britney VIN 193 has PowerShare installed, is a SCE customer, and wants in on the action!

I have no idea what areas of the country your electric service providers pay anything that would remotely make this worth it, but in California with PG&E they charge you an average of around $0.42/KWh and give you like $0.03/KWh back for it if you provide it through your solar. It's a racket.
