There a way to contact them? I would love for them to add a little blind spot indicator on each corner in this area. One of my peeves…

NM found contact haha, look at me giving pre-user feedback in sure they will love that

Apparently you’re going to be able to design your own HUD layout. But if you follow the link to the Reddit post one of them was on there talking with people and answering questions. On Kickstarter there’s usually a way to communicate with the developers.

Same man! I’m still miffed about Tesla leaving that out from this incredible truck.

MyQ is not an acceptable substitute! Can’t use it on gates (office garage, country club, Dad’s gated community, etc.); that doesn’t even begin to address the subscription only nonsense! I can’t even begin to understand the thinking! It’s crazy that an alleged flagship rig doesn’t have such a basic modern necessity. Home link or an equivalent RF like this is still state-of-the-art, not MyQ!

A non-collimated image without a proper piece of combiner glass is effectively useless as a heads-up display. More importantly it can be disorienting due to your eyes having to constantly adjust.

Those are impressive sounding words, but they have conveyed virtually no meaning, at least to me. But, it sounds like you’re against it? I’m just going to project it onto my windshield (which is one of the two optional set up modes its apparently going to have)— just like my Corvette.

Windshield projected HUDs generally require special windshields that eliminate the double image you usually get because the image is reflected off both layers of glass. Collimation of the image means focusing it as if it were a distant image, so your eyes don't need to constantly re-focus when switching between the HUD and the road. The 1st makes the image look like crap, it's why many use a pop up screen or a film placed over the windshield. The 2nd causes eye-strain.

For some reason that website doesn't even resolve for me, not sure what's blocking it.

So, then the other option is to use the alternative display which has the physical screen? Does this criticism apply to that as well? I’m really not following. If we’re talking about eye strain caused by reflections on the windshield, I’ve used various apps over the years that just take your phone throw up telemetry and reverse the image so it bounces off of your windshield when you lay your phone in front of it. I’ve never experienced any noticeable eye strain with this kind of set up. What am I missing?

Is this a pilot thing?

Also, how do we know, just by looking at it, that it doesn’t have an um…. ‘coambigulate fantabulator’ or whatever?

I think there is skepticism because there is no corrective medium to correctly display the image on the windshield. I imagine the creators are considering this already, otherwise it’s a non-starter instead of a kick starter 😬.

The flip up screen is the combiner, that should work fine and there are always aftermarket (or maybe it will include) a combiner film. The video doesn't show one, but that doesn't mean there isn't. I don't think collimation is as critical, since we're all already refocusing on the center screen so much. It can be a little more of an issue for some people since the HUD is usually in your line of vision.
