Another update: the Tesla rental program has been extended. Now it's available through March 31.

Still limited to the two Southern California locations listed above, as far as I know. Still seems like a good deal. Click the links to sign up.
Final (?) update: The Tesla vehicle rental programs at the San Diego Miramar and Costa Mesa stores were scheduled to end on March 31. And ... it looks like they actually did end on that date. The rentals are no longer available.

So at this time, the future of the rental program is unclear. Possibly there is no future.

Looked again. And guess what, the Tesla vehicle rental programs at the San Diego Miramar and Costa Mesa stores are back. Now scheduled to run through June 30, 2026.

As far as I know, Tesla HQ has made no statements or announcements about the rental program. All we know for sure is that you can get a sweet deal on a Tesla rental in San Diego or Orange County for up to seven days, at least through June 30. I think the following points are valid:

1. Tesla apparently isn't ready to kill the rental program yet.

2. But they aren't committed to keeping the rental program long-term either, since it has only been renewed through June 30.

3. The program still appears to be limited to the same two stores in southern California. But I certainly haven't checked every Tesla store in the US, so am not positive about that.

4. Tesla doesn't seem to be making any effort to advertise or promote the rental program. There was a flurry of interest in November 2025, when the rentals first became available, but that has since died down. It's flying under the radar now.

Any member here rented one? Just wonder they still limit max 85 MPH like a loaner. No fun at all if renting a Plaid at that speed.

Think about the last time you rented from Avis, budget or hertz. Was your cost plus gas close to $60 a day? Did it drive itself? Was it more fun to deal with the counter dude than the Tesla app?
The experiment will be successful.
All tesla is really missing here is the last mile but all that would require is using overflow storage lots they already pay for near airports.
Uber voucher people to the car. Done.
Now, consider what the market cap is of the above mentioned three companies?
Elon is no fool. This is much more than an FSD advertising maneuver.
cybercab to the rental wow more people
