What happens to water when it gets in between the gap? Does it have a drain somewhere under the roof appliqué?

Yes, water would drain under the applique. That would be normal and similar to the applique with the access covers.

Hello all,

I took delivery of my Cybertruck AWD yesterday. To my disappointment, the roof trim panels do not have the little access doors to expose the rack mounting bolts. I won't be able to mount my @Mars Adventure Gear rack without purchasing the correct trim pieces, which run $540 a pair.

It all comes as an unpleasant surprise as the order page doesn't say anything about the change and even features pictures of racks mounted forward on the roof for all models. The current owner's manual doesn't mention the discrepancy either. It looks like the change was made last November, but without any mention to new buyers.

If time permits, could someone measure the distance to the door edges from each end and the distance to the side of the trim. I think I might just make a small jig and cut the holes myself.

I saw this and was waiting to see what I would be receiving. My CB was built on 4/12/2025 and the access doors for mounting points are on my truck. 4 on each side. I’m guessing this is one of those instances where Tesla makes line changes to a select few vehicles (like a testing process perhaps) but mine came from factory with no covers.

Im beyond pissed at this. I just got my roof rack and lightbar from TLYard and was installing and saw no openings on top. What is the reasoning to remove them??!?! It makes no sense. I cant even figure out how you get access to the lightbar wiring or installing it.

apparently to save costs. you can either make a service center appt for a new roof applique, or there is a thread here where someone cut his own holes in his stock applique

Yea, I already went ahead and cut holes myself. I wasn't going to pay $700 for something that should have been there.

I ordered a left and right hand roof appliqué with rack doors. They arrived in a few days and snapped in my 2025 AWD (March 2025 delivery) easily. I don't understand why the roof appliqué without doors is so much more expensive.

esp weird and frustrating since they told us that we got those non-door having appliques to save costs…..seems like we should all get them changed to the appropriate ones for free!
