I have to agree with it being the driver. Stock wheels work fine as long as you’ve upgraded tires. I run BFG K03 and have accomplished many Offroad adventures. I’m looking forward to running 18”beadlocks with the 35” K03 would be better for airing down for sure. Tend to easily pinch sidewalks running the 20s.
My apologies, that's what I meant by stock wheels. My correction will be wheels --> Tires. I have Wrangler RT tires and have been an absolute beast when it comes to terrain challenge.

Extract mode probably hurt the situation by limiting wheel speed. There should be a way to limit speed in Very High & Extract Mode by GPS and not make it useless in mud, sand and snow.

What an absolute moron. I've said this time and time again. It's not the vehicle, it's always the driver! 🤬
This moron went with stock wheels into the sand dunes not expecting to get stuck. I have a Cybertruck and I've driven in just about every terrain you can think of with no issue.
He needs to be grateful the tow hitch didn't get ripped off after the initial jerk pull from the recovery vehicle since it wasn't in neutral. This could've ended very badly for him. My guess is, there might actually be some structural damage even if the tow hitch didn't yank off - he'll most likely realize this during his next Service Center visit.
Disclaimer: Guys... please use your brains. Off-roading is no joke; go prepared. From proper wheels to understanding vehicle limitations to proper tools for recovery. Don't be like this idiot.
P.S. 2:21 - The kid has more sensibility than his father.
Can you show a picture of how your truck is prepared for off-road driving?

As probably many have already said - but air the tires down and you will not get stuck in sand unless you are a complete nimrod.

Agree with all. Definitely a driver problem not a CT problem. I haven't really done much on sand with it but I've been all over trail, mud, snow and the truck is capable.
Even with the tires a little airing down and some common sense he would have been fine. And yeah a couple of trax and self removal would have been easy.

Matts videos can be entertaining but he has his stupid fails as well. At least he's willing to post his failed projects. I don't dislike him like some of the others.

I've seen a lot of Matt's Off-road Recovery videos. I know these guys are absolute pros. But isn't it a big no-no to yank using the tow hitch ball? People have died doing exactly that.
It looked like a stretch tow line to me so the "jerk" was not as bad, right?

Yeah, kinetic rope recovery isn't as harsh. The vehicle being recovered should accelerate toward the direction of travel, so that as soon as it's pulled toward traction, it could move forward on its own, reducing additional wear and tear on the engine of the recovery vehicle. (In this specific instance, the CT should be reversing). Or at least be put in neutral so it doesn't fight the recovery vehicle.

This is true! I thought I made a mistake once a while back, but it turns out I was wrong.

We had a guy in our town get stuck off-roading in mud with his kids in a temporary inland lake after a big rainstorm a few years ago. Had a friend try to tow him out…anyhow, his kids sat next to him in the truck watched him die when the tow rope snapped and recoiled somehow through the windshield and into him, resulting in death.

Tow ropes are no joke. And not everything about their failure modes is intuitively obvious to everyone.
