A lot of this stuff has been discussed previously, showing that most of the body panels reflect the ground when viewed from other driver's height. Also this isn't the first nor the last vehicle to have a chrome/mirror finish. I have yet to hear of an epidemic of chrome wrapped vehicles causing accidents.
But, but, but, $TSLAQ told me reflections from the OEM Cybertruck's stainless steel finish was deadly to other motorists. This would have to kill even more people, no?

Ha-ha, I kid! I had forgot about that false narrative being pushed hard after the Cybertruck was revealed.

It's just so cool to know you can reset the CT's exterior to 100% factory finish, or mirror polish, unidirectional brushed, and bounce between. Maybe one day I'll be bored and go the polished route. Just go panel by panel until it's done.
Yes!! Let's do it when you're ready. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Would you as the polisher or any of you the polishees please talk a little about maintenance? How long is this good for, how do you clean it? How does it look when it starts to scuff etc.

I’ve seen your work in person and can vouch, the truck looked mirror perfect. Well worth the labor cost if you can swing it.

Would you drive it through an automated car wash?
Yes but they all go through a "touchless" wash. Even if you have a pressure washer at home..you can buy a foam cannon, get good detail soap..foam cannon on and pressure wash off. Use a big twisted loop microfiber towel to dry off...those towels are great and don't scratch. Also if any fingerprints you can literally wipe off with dry microfiber rag

I was just imagining it would be really difficult to drive behind it. I’ve never actually seen a Chromed out in person yet.
Trust me I had the same questions. I drove behind one we finished for about 30 to 40 miles through back roads and on highways, lights turned on and no reflection back at me at all. If you notice the tailgate bottom is in more the the top..the top shoots and angle out further so when light hits, it shoots down.

Thank you all for your replies. I’ve learned a lot just from hearing positive things about it. How about maintenance for that new look? Is it difficult to keep up with it?

Yeah, but you'll polish all the way through the metal after doing this a few thousand times. Didn't think of that, did ya??
Hahaha maybe if you sanded a few thousand times but the buffs we use are ones we invented made out of 2 different types of cotton. We run our machines at 2200 rpm other polishers run their machines at 6,000 rpm and the use a much more aggressive and gritty buffing airway that causes scratches. We do not sand deep like others who start at 320...we start at 800 but go over it several times because if you go with 320 you have a better chance of gouging the stainless.

Everyone we've polished said they'd pay my price for the maintenance alone. You can take it through a "touchless" "brushless" wash. If you have a foam cannon and pressure washer get a detailer soap and foam cannon on pressure wash off. Dry with one of those big twisted loop microfiber towels because they don't scratch. Also a quick detailer spray will be your best friend..you can wipe down the truck in five min and it will look brand new. Water beads off, fingerprints wipe off with dry microfiber rag. The upkeep is very simple.
