Windshield seal flew out

We just drove from the Bay Area to Denver in what I, as a coastal resident, would call blistering heat. Three days in the high 90s. Yesterday, heading north on I25 just south of Pueblo, CO we were driving with FSD on Standard (speed limit 75) we heard a loud bang up front. I pulled over and got out to survey the damage and found the right windshield seal flipping in the wind. About 18” of it. It was still attached above that. We checked the other side and it was still attached but it seemed a little gummy. We checked the other seals just in case and one of the tonneaux seals was loose near the top. Not knowing how this might affect the windshield we dropped down to Chill and found some duct tape at a local store in Pueblo, and set up an appointment at Tesla in Denver.

has anyone else experienced this? Is it heat related? How does the seal affect the windshield? Was duct tape even a viable bandaid?

My guess is that it’s heat and can-trail related. Submit a service request ASAP.

Have you ever created a service ticket to address the panel gap and misaligned can-trail? It looks like I can stick my thumb in the fender to hood gap.

That bang sound probably was the Cantrail popping that caused the seal to separate.

Your cantrail looks a bit loose as well, I have worked on 100s of cybertrucks and so many of these rubber trims fail over time

Already happened to me . I had to apologize to the driver behind me as it nearly hit him at highway speeds ..

Those will the new “blue goo” structural adhesive shouldn’t suffer from panel adhesive issues. It was an assembly line running change made in 2025. The older structural adhesive was grey in color.

I don’t know enough but do other production cars use adhesives to bolster panels .

my concern with age all adhesives eventually lose their stickiness ? Or am I to be corrected ..

I have not. One side is definitely wider than the other. I really hadn’t noticed a problem until this seal thing happened.

Is the cantrail old or updated fix? Dont think the new bolt system will pop like that.
