I agree it seems to be coming from the air compressor. The truck can raise and lower making almost no noise , but this other noise happens every now and then , I guess when The compressor is building pressure.

I had the appt for tomorrow regarding the rattling noise. Today I was at a traffic light and the truck got into the alert error from what others have posted is a defective harness. I couldn’t go faster than 4 miles , I was very close to tesla so I already left it there so that they can figure out what is going on. I am thinking it is related , the ac compressor appears to overheat and causes the truck to go into that safety mode where nothing really works and you can only go about 4 miles.

Just dropped off the truck yesterday for this weird noise. So far they cannot replicate this noise. But I have sent them four videos of this. So far they are saying everything is fine. And this noise is when the truck is idle. Not moving.

Hello Hanzo,

I have the same issue with mine, just as you described it. I have an appt this Friday.
I am thinking on dropping by Tesla today just to ask if that is a normal noise (which I don’t think so), if not , I’ll keep the Friday appt. Here’s my video

Did you take yours in for service yet? If you did what did they say The issue was?

Yes , they replaced the air suspension compressor , no more noise like that with the new one!
have you taken yours in yet?

I took it in yesterday. They took it for a test drive and they cannot replicate the noise. They are telling me everything is fine.

This noise happens everyday. They said they are not getting any errors from the air compressor. And this is what I told them the issue was. It sounds like an air compressor issue. They say it is fine.

I remember mine would do it when I would be changing driving modes since it requires raising and lowering of the suspension. The compressor would kick in and that noise was very evident. You should probably try to replicate it doing that and request for them to let you go along when test driving it to validate your concern.

Yea. I talked to the actual technician. And like I said so far he said he cannot replicate the issue. So we will see. But this is definitely not acceptable. I just don't want have to bring the truck back multiple times until there is a complete failure.

Definitely not acceptable. Happened to me the first time when it gave me the critical issue alert, my truck was basically in for both issues, the noisy compressor + the critical alert. They couldn’t replicate the critical alert only the noise from the compressor, so they replaced the compressor but regarding the other issue they basically told me it would have to wait until it happens again. And of course , a couple of days later it gave me the critical issue alert and Tesla road assistance had to go and help me. My truck was in service waiting for parts for 2 weeks . I just picked it up yesterday , everything right now appears to be working good , no more issues, so I am happy at the moment but I was getting frustrated with all the waiting and having to take the truck for service every time .

Sounds like what will happen to me. I just received a message from Tesla. Basically they are wanting it to fail completely and me bring it back in. Or leave me stranded like it happened to you. I love Tesla but these are the issues that I hate about Tesla as well. We own multiple Teslas so I'm getting used to this terrible service.

Rattling issues are the worst because they refuse to truly do the work to fix them. They are like ambulance chasers if it’s not a clear closed case they won’t touch it. Very frustrating tbh. I’ve had to bring my model x back over 10 times and the rattle still isn’t fixed even when they can replicate it lol.

I told them it sounded like a compressor. I even screenshotted your reply of having your air compressor replaced. They have multiple videos of this noise I have sent them. Yet this is their reply.
