It certainly may not be. Personally I'd probably never notice this unless asked to check, which I'll do if you'd like.

Clearly there's a lot of emotional responses going around, so I'll checkout here.

Weekend is almost here! Have a great weekend all!
There's a rule, you cannot wish someone a nice weekend on a Thursday lol

This thread is getting a little out of hand with the unnecessary hostility, but for those who are here for validation they're not crazy or are trying to understand the root cause, here's a video I just took today where it's happening on my truck at a complete stop. I'm of the opinion it's a software issue, and I'm sure it happens more than I notice. I just happened to catch it today because I had been responding to this thread right before I left for a lunch meeting.

This is simply a software "feature" that isn't working as they probably intended. Future software updates will most likely fix, but who knows when. I've had my truck since early Jan and I've never noticed this...

I pick my truck up tomorrow, so I don't have first hand experience, but does everyone's truck do this?

I watched the video and that would be weird if that is normal behavior. It's wobbling around like a dog's tail the whole time.. bad design if that's "normal" because clearly it cannot be doing anything aerodynamically functional by moving back and forth at the exact same speed. That would make no sense.

It looks defective to me.
My guess is a bad sensor somewhere. You may can find more info using the service manual

You should schedule service for that

The "software issue" is the oscillation. Picking a good spot for aero is great, but "wiggling" isn't productive. It's almost like it's trying to reach a specific spot but keeps bouncing around it, like when volume "8" on your TV is too loud, but "7" is too soft.

I've seen network monitoring tools that report UP status when there's plenty of traffic, DOWN status when there's none, but if you hit just the right cadence of slow traffic it will ping-pong "UP down UP down UP down". Fixing this corner-case required a little tuning to the algorithm, I'm assuming the wiper is the same. ?‍♂

You may be very well correct.

However, it only proves that Tesla just cannot figure out how to manage windshield wipers correctly. They are known for their tech, but at the end of the day the simplest crap seems to be the most difficult for them to solve.

My auto wipers suck. Parking sensors are no good. Simple things that even cars I owned 20+ years ago did perfectly fine without issue.

I don't need Tesla to solve autonomy, I want Tesla to solve how to operate a goddamn windshield wiper like a normal vehicle.

clearly defective...
How can it be clear, when active aero literally does wriggle things up to many times a minute?

Now, if it were doing that varying speeds and yet still shifting at the same pace and positions, maybe it's caught in a loop.

But no, it's not 'clear'. But it is interesting.

SC can’t figure it out and replaced multiple wipers but most people here are certified Tesla technicians because they read the manual. Nice!

The service center can't fix software issues. And they often have no more information than is available on this forum; because they're not engineers, not seen as important to Tesla... just service technicians.

They just want to make you happy. Otherwise they don't get to keep their job. People on the forum don't have that obligation.

I've taken in my cybertruck 4 times now since purchase in January for the same issue that claims to be resolved but has not.

Problem Statement: when exceeding speeds over 65mph, the windshield wiper moves from left to right on its own as if its either

a) a software glitch that has not been resolved in any updates
b) a motor or controller issue.

I have had the wiper replaced, including the tubing and out of 3 dealerships in south florida NO ONE can resolve this issue. I have posted the video on YOUTUBE in hopes to get some traction so someone out there in the TESLA world can fix this...

still going my friend... ghost wiper continues to have a mind of its own... too many haters in this forum. they just don't get the frustration of an issue that is not intentional.

Make the reposition of the wiper an option in the software and that will solve the issue, that seems logical to me for those who have overly erratic wiper blade. Those who have not experienced the issue will be happy and those who do experience at least have an option to eliminate what could be a distraction and a safety issue.
