375 Wh/mi average energy consumption over 1,156 miles (after latest software update)!

The CT seems to be very efficient when driving consistently at highway speeds between 60-65. I hope the numbers are real, but I haven’t done the reverse math myself…

This is a screen photo of 180mi trip at 375 Wh/mile … even at 75mph. ?

Yah, but 375 Wh/mile is average not instantaneous and the trip as a whole was < 60 MPH at the time.

We were getting 315Wh/mile with Beast when <= 45 MPH paved rural roads.

To be clear are these results only after the latest update or were they consistent prior?

It was high 400s before and very disappointing 700s+ although expected, when towing even at less than steep climbs. I was hoping I can do Donner Pass before my Canada trip.

The average should reflect the highs of the previous and the lows of the latest. Not too many towing (just 2 on the 700s+). @HaulingAss may have the better representation on multiple towing trips.

Am posting to see if my numbers also showing and coming in lately to other CT owners.

When I got my 3P I was late to an appointment and blasted through what I thought was a red light camera cause "I have fast car I can beat light" but it was a speed camera.... 14 over...

I want to remind everyone to use their charging statistics number when comparing it with actuals.

For example, my lifetime consumption is 417 Wh/mile according to the on-screen consumption calculation, but if I use the calculation based on charging stats, it is 897 Wh/mile.

I know, I know... there was some limited sentry mode (about 20% of the time) and some cabin heat protection, but nothing excessive. This additional energy is still part of the maintenance cost of ownership of the CT.

I really want to see those numbers from others. Divide your lifetime mileage by the charging Wh, and let's see what we get.

You don't need to remind anyone of anything, they're two separate topics. The OP is talking about driving consumption, and the thread has been about that, that it may have been reduced by a software update, and how that affects range.

You're talking about total energy consumption of the vehicle. Another relevant topic for sure, but has little to do with range and if the update improved vehicle operation efficiency.

I'm under 400 Wh/mile after 4,000 miles. A big chunk of it was Interstate at 75 mph.
I recently had a 100 mile segment that I was under 300 Wh/mile.

Have you done any towing with your truck yet? I'm curious as I work with our boats daily and do a lot of trailering. We currently Use a our Ford Lightning, but I'm trying to get this on our radar as the next fleet Truck.

But yeah, energy consumption can be particularly high or low at the very beginning of a trip because it doesn't have much distance to average things like the initial acceleration of the 6600 lb. truck (plus occupants), any elevation you may climb, etc.

As an opposite example, I can usually make the drive to the downtown of the small town 2 miles away with a trip consumption of 25-80 Wh/mile. Sometimes it's even slightly negative (because I lose about 200 feet in elevation).

Got 734 Wh/mile towing a 4,200 lbs RV for 44 miles with not much steep hills to climb.

Problem with CT is that it's so powerful that it's difficult to perceive head winds that might be adversely affecting energy usage.

Let's start off with something like 27 miles lost because of elevation increases.
Then 24 miles added because of elevation increases.

And probably averaged 30 mph.

It's standard Tesla numbers. At about 55mph, you'll come close to the EPA numbers, 10% for every 5 mph over that. And probably more than 10% for every 5 mph lower than 55 mph.

On the way down I put it in beast mode and moved, probably averaged 95mph on highway and yes the beast is still speed limited. I was at 555wh when I arrived for that segment.

On the way back I put it in comfort mode put it on cruise control at 70 behind a semi and drove as mild as I could. I got 390wh on the segment back. No clue how anyone got into the high 200s, if there is a way to do this, I could never achieve it, as it just wouldn’t be compatible with my driving style.

My current average is 431wh, probably 30/70 highway/city with semi aggressive driving as the norm.

Got to change your driving habit if you want to get the range it seems.

Again, in SoCal where I used to live, going 80mph in the fast lane can even get you tail gated.

Those were the days when I never had a car in front of me that I would not like to overtake. Once, a Lambo on I-15 with my daughter's puny Toyota Yaris (btw, best power to body ratio among the cars I drove).

Learn to drive cool when we start road trips pulling an RV where driving past 55mph with a cross wind is suicidal.

With the CT, I just punch the freeway speed limit and let those who are in a hurry to go ahead. Except those who deliberately coal roll me.

In that case, I make them eat my electrons! ?
