Great update. I am trying to figure out how they make the AC more effective and make it quieter via a SOFTWARE update.
I recall an auto “magazine” testing the braking on the model 3 when it first came out. They criticized the stopping distance. The next day (or two) after the video an OTA reduced the stopping by distance. The dude was shocked. He had never heard of such of thing. Couldn’t believe it. (Neither could I). I don’t know many (any?) manufacturers that can do that today. ?. They invented “software controlled car” a decade ago.

As to the actual mechanism they did this … ??

I don’t think this is correct. Autopilot (staying in a lane in highway) does not work in CT yet. Only traffic aware cruise control. Suspect it’ll come with the expected 12.5 FSD release per Elon.
Maybe it's just semantics....?

Here are photos of my Autopilot controls. Everything works, except for Full Self Driving (Supervised), which is greyed out. For me, Autopilot is working.

Per Elon's post on ?, Cybertruck should get FSD with the 12.5 release slated for late June, so we may only be a few weeks away. They just did a limited public release of FSD 12.4.1 starting last night.
FWIW that statement was assuming 12.4.1 would have been released ~2 weeks ago. Likely looking at 12.5 public release (+Cybertruck) in mid-July.

Under “Autopilot Features” it says “Traffic Aware Cruise Control”. I can use TACC but it does not steer in any way.

I would say it's through a regulation of the fan speed, which is what makes the noise, and the duration of running the fan when it is on so that it still does remain as noisy as it is but you just pay attention to it a lot less. That's my theory.

Ok. So no autopilot then. Thanks for clarification.
If your definition of Autopilot is: it steers for you and keeps you in your lane, then, for you, Autopilot doesn’t work.

When I click on the Autopilot menu item on the controls screen and see that ALL of the Autopilot function selections except FSD work, and those functions work as expected while I’m driving, then, for me, Autopilot works.

Depending on definitions, YMMV…. and that’s OK.

Yes. Autopilot steers. That is the definition.

I think most of us older Tesla owners associate Autoplilot with what Tesla used to call Enhanced Autopilot or EAP. It included auto steering plus distance cruise-control, summon, autopark and Navigate-on-Autopilot. Those features have now been rolled into FSD and EAP is no longer offered.

Can confirm the AC unit is a lot quieter. It was honestly the only ‘noise’ factor I noticed when first driving the beast. At first I thought it was wind noise coming from window/windshield seal, but after isolating the problem to AC system by manually changing fan speed, I learned to manually adjust when needed.

This. I've only ever had EAP and so I don't know what basic autopilot is. Right now it's challenging driving the truck because EAP has made me such a shit driver.

Ok. So we have Autopilot then, but not the no-longer-offered Enhanced Autopilot that auto-steers because EAP is now part of FSD, which is not yet available.

Thanks for that clarification, Obie_fl!
