Carwashes use powerful streams and blowers, which send water where it doesn't usually fall. That splatter looks like drips off the tonneau opening rather than it squirting in and filling the truck, tho.

But yeah, you might want to check if there's a seal that's not seating properly by crawling in while under a sprinkler.

From the picture and what I've seen elsewhere I'd say you came out pretty good. One of my few complaints so far is the vault not seeming to be reliably water tight. The one thing I miss from my RAM, my aftermarket cover was bomb proof water wise. Probably some tweaking that can be done with some focused investigation though. Just wish we didn't need to.

Have driven in some good rain and went camping with some rain. The front of the bed had a little water but the rest of dry.

My vault looks the same if not more wet after the car wash I use. It is a bummer if you want to run through the wash quickly when you have things in the bed though can’t get wet. Luckily the car wash is not far from the house and I’ve just unloaded then ran out for a wash the couple times the vault was loaded.

Did you open the tailgate to check before activating the vault cover?

It’s a truck guys… water in your truck bed is normal. I’ve driven them for years and have never seen or heard of a tonneau cover that’s 100% waterproof because that’s not its purpose. And if any of you have a full waterproof one… well send me a link so I can change the tonneau on all my trucks lol

The cover on the old Sierra was waterproof (at least until I sliced it getting ice off).
Front secured and overlapped bed, sides overlapped and Velcroed down, rear seal overlapped tailgate. When rolling open, any water would dump out the sides and not enter the bed.

That said, our vault has stayed dry in car wash, hand wash, and downpours.

I’ve had covers from all brands ranging from Diamondback Bakflip Peragon Trifecta etc and all let in varying amounts of water. There’s a reason they advertise them as 95% 98% waterproof bc there is no 100% waterproof. The main purpose of the tonneau is theft protection, then mileage and water resistance. Just letting people know so people don’t worry too much about their CT bed getting wet; it’s normal for every truck. Now if it was your cabin letting in water that’s a whole different story.

I’d also say my truck beds stay 90% dry but there’s always some water seepage because water always finds a way. Though I will say the way you had yours with overlapping on all areas is ideal and allows for the most waterproofing possible.

The vault is not designed or advertised to be a water proof camper/sleeper. If you need this functionality, you should buy a tent.

I think the concern is using it like an SUV where the rear storage works for any cargo, not just truck type materials. In that, things seem to stay dry (at least until the vault is opened).
Dust though, that's a different story...

Yep I feel like a good amount of CT owners are also first time truck owners so they might not know and maybe think their bed should behave like a normal car trunk which isn’t the case.
Yeah if you’re gonna be hauling stuff in the bed and know it’s gonna be pouring it’s always best to take extra precautions and tarp the material or throw in bins etc. Oh with dust definitely, it always finds a way just like water.

Yes, It was dry. It's not big deal, I think I just thought it was more water tight...
