Tesla would be mocked relentlessly if they software disabled ventilated seats lol. I don't know why people speak with such confidence and are dead wrong ?

The biggest miss on the non-FS trucks will be the lack of standard 35” meats on some trims.

I’m guessing they be standard on the CyberBeast, a $4500 option on the AWD trim and unavailable on the RWD trim.

Marketing 101 will be in play.

I don't really understand how there could be so many people who can afford to pay $80K for a truck but not $100K. If $20K breaks you you really can't afford it. So I am doubting that offering the non-FS is really going to unlock a lot of new buyers. Price will have to drop a lot more for that and Tesla will have to strip out a lot more than trim to make that happen (like four wheel steer and drive by wire).

My thoughts exactly. If you cant afford 100k (theres no shame in that) then you also cant afford 80k. Simply look for a good used truck for 35k and wait a few years.

I completely disagree.

If the point of sale $7500 federal tax credit applies it will be a $27,500 delta, not $20k.

For CA buyers it will also lower the county sales tax and yearly vehicle registration fee since it’s based on vehicle price.

It's not necessarily that they can't, it's that they don't want to pay $20k more for less than $20k of value...
We wanted Beast earlier and we ordered when the $4k installation credit for Powershare was a thing.
However, it was still a (slight) premium over the actual options recieved and we didn't need the lightbar nor all terrain tires (assuming those are a cost up).

If buyers don't need/want permanent FSD (subscription may be sufficient) the value proposition really isn't there. Especially now without installation credit, or if they already have WC + Powerwall.

Were AWD to qualify for for the Clean Vehicle Credit, that is an even bigger delta for a base vehicle that can be upgraded later.

I really don't think they can put a steering column back into the mousetrap, but oh they could try;)

What incentive does Tesla have to offer such a brand new and in demand car for under the $80k threshold? Specially while they fine tune the car and work out the kinks?

Maybe the price is 86,990 or $84,990 for AWD but once you chose to add FSD supervised + white interior + 35” tires you get really close to the FS all-in pricing.

Tesla can claim complexities in the manufacturing process or economic constraints for the above $80k pricing. The $80k is also just an “estimate”.
IMO, it is because there is a lot of interest but not at $100,000 plus price. You can see this by the increasing volumes of emails Tesla sent out inviting reservationists to order the foundation series, and the used car market (which currently only has foundation series), that is growing in number of vehicles for sale, yet with dropping prices.
I’m sure these are some of the reasons that Musk stated that foundation series will be ending very soon.

On FSD: Thousands of us, including myself reserved when it was still $7000 so if we want that we can get it for that price.

On White interior: that may be to some peoples liking, but not everybody. A lot of people are waiting for Tactical Gray.

On 35 inch tires: speaking for myself, I would not pay a high premium at order for these because I can get them myself afterwards for less. Plus in my use case I would need the AS tires first and after a few years I will need the AT, so I can replace the worn AS with a AT.

I don't really understand how there could be so many people who can afford to pay $80K for a truck but not $100K. If $20K breaks you you really can't afford it. I disagree. In my case, I have the email invitation, and the fortune to have the free cash to buy, but like thousands of people, I didn’t bite. For me, it was not affordability, but financial sense decision. To each their own, though.

Musk even said that at $100,000 there is a limited buying pool for vehicles. Tesla gets this.

That said, I applaud all of you who bought the foundation series and choosing to be on the leading edge of the CT development. You are helping to make the CT better.

Premium connectivity for my M3 is <$100 a YEAR - premium connectivity for my model S is < $100 a year.
why is a cyber truck >120% more?
Makes absolutely no sense.

additionally, I would assume they would follow a somewhat similar pattern with the cyber truck as they do in the other vehicles. A performance or all.-wheel-drive would have heated and ventilated seats for every passenger as well as premium audio

A 2 Wheel Dr. vehicle they would delete the subwoofers and turn off the backseat heaters.

I haven’t seen any indicators that this would be any different. What am I missing?

a WHITE DASH panel? - not worth $1000. - a white interior with white seats… Absolutely worth $1000.

in any case, the price will work itself out. I don’t need off-road tires for my mall crawler to go get materials or to tow a boat. I need strong street tires so I can tote stuff around on pavement, and pass safely on the highway.
I agree for what I am focused on:

20"+35" the aftermarket will be even better, think Fuel Vandal, oh yeah!
Premium Audio, AWD included, RWD no sub, etc
Heated/Vented Front Seats, AWD included, RWD TBD

rest I can subscribe to or like the white, IDC

Yes to each their own. I think a high number that passed on foundation series will also pass on truck. Goldilocks moments. Has to be just right, or perfect for me to buy. Which means one was a fence sitter, not going to be a trigger puller.

Keep waiting for that cheaper used Cybertruck Golidlocks. Might be your only option for a while, and I don't see that for 12 months, and it will be one that has a low VIN.

Ya when I did my assessment, it was $300/month difference.. that’s when my mind changed and I was ready to go FS if offered

In Oregon, I will unfortunately not qualify for any credit. So that makes it much easier

Yes that happened for about a year with the Model Y, had to buy a basic barebones model maybe one upgrade to still stay under the tax limit. But it soon changed and prices dropped to cover inflation and better the chance of tax credit. Now the MY price has dropped considerably to the high $30k’s and piling up at closed Malls unable to sell?!
