I'm looking for a high-quality soft cooler that is a good fit for the frunk but have been having trouble finding accurate dimensions given the irregular shape of the frunk.

From what I can gather, these are the relevant dimensions:

Front to back: 13" (or is it 14"or 15"?), if placed somewhat centrally.
Height: An easy 15", at least up the back wall of the frunk in the middle area. Still unclear how quickly the height diminishes towards the front (if at all) if using a 15" tall item.
Width: for my purposes it doesn't matter, as I don't want a cooler wider than 25".

Because most soft coolers, at least the ones that aren't hybrid hard/soft coolers, can crush a little with no harm, I'm thinking I might want to slightly oversize on the height and let the front of the frunk lid crush the leading edge slightly. I use coolers all the time, not just on road trips, and I like the versatility of a larger cooler for grocery shopping, etc. I don't want a cheap flimsy "cool bag" with less than 1/2" insulation, preferably 3/4", for ice retention on road trips. I will probably add some insulation underneath and on the sides/back to extend ice retention too.

Questions:

1) Can any early owners provide better measurements of the central area of the frunk with the lid closed? I'm particularly interested in how the clearance works at the upper leading edge as the frunk closes. I would wait until I receive my own Cybertruck (I've had a VIN for weeks) and just try out different coolers but I never find what I want in local shops anyway, so I have to go off of cooler dimensions published by the manufacturer when mail-ordering.

2) Has anyone found a larger soft cooler that maximizes the space in the frunk? I'm not looking to maximize the width because I will have other uses for the remaining space (but I would like a cooler at least 21" wide, preferably 23"-25" wide). All dimensions are exterior.

I know it's pretty difficult to measure the space where the frunk lid closes but I bet someone can get creative and provide a reasonably good idea of the available space.

I would like to see a cooler designed for the under bed locker. It has a drain and worked great for a tailgate I had. Fits a lot of beer and ice! A foam cooler that shape with a cutout for the hole would be nice!

Yes, some people who still use ice might like that. I use super cold ice packs that last a long time, can be used indefinitely and don't need draining. The reason I like my cooler in the frunk is accessibility, there is never anything on top of it. The other advantage is it doesn't get super heated in the sun, like a cabin does. I suppose the under bed locker would stay reasonably cool too, but access is not as convenient, having to bend over the tailgate.

What I do is line a duffel or other luggage with reflective barrier folded like a banker's box, with a large trash bag for a vapor barrier. That way it's the size I want, and I can disassemble and replace the liner as need be (or accidents happen).

That gets me over 1/2" on the sides, but it does look a bit messy when empty. Usually if that happens I take out the liner and stuff it in a vacuum bag, so it stays flat.

Yeah, I use that Reflectix radient barrier as an "overcoat" for a regular soft cooler, it makes a huge difference in ice retention, especially in hot weather. And it weighs almost nothing. I cut the Reflectix and tape the seams to fit around the cooler.

Fair points. The only reasonable solution if for someone to make both!

Hey suppliers, create 3 quality coolers that fit together in the Frunk perfectly, and customers can choose all 3, or left, right or middle.

The under-bed storage is also the coolest, here is my data.

This would be very cool! We did a drive in movie night this weekend and looked at a couple big box stores for something that would be good for the frunk but came up empty handed. I like this 3 piece concept.

The closest I've found to the perfect large soft cooler for the frunk is a large rectangular one from Polar Bear. I'm looking more for multi-day ice pack retention and ability to hold a decent amount of groceries (vs. a drink cooler). This cooler could function as a drink cooler, but it's not quite as easy to get in/out of compared to most coolers. It's a 13"x13x21" rectangular box shape. It won't suit everyone, especially those who value the most convenient access, but it's working well for what I need it for (transporting groceries). It's big enough that when it's full of groceries, drinks, and a couple of ice packs, it's about as heavy as most people would want to pack with one arm.

It pushes the limit of what the frunk can handle in terms of height and depth, so occasionally the frunk lid will reverse if it's packed particularly full or not scooted all the way back. This only seems to happen when the frunk safety reversal is feeling particularly sensitive. It's strong points are volume, ice retention is good for a soft cooler, and it leaves quite a bit of frunk space for non-refrigerated groceries that could benefit from proximity cooling.

I can envision a better one for my needs, but it would probably have to be custom designed for the frunk. The top would have a slight slope towards the front edge so it could be 14 or perhaps even 15 inches tall in the back sloping to 12" tall at the front corner and it could be an inch or two wider than 21".

I have been using the insulated carboard box cooler that "The Farmers Dog" fresh dog food ships in. Not waterproof but the price is right! Plus you get a new one every two weeks!!
