FSD is not physically attached so does not affect the $80k federal (and many/most state) tax credit vehicle price ceiling.
Another reason not to wait: We may lose the $7,500 credit depending on which side wins the elections. We could see the IRA thrown out or radically changed.

My gullible friend, you have been fooled by people spouting complete nonsense!

There is no easier care truck than the Cybertruck. I also live in the PNW and my truck has never seen a roof above its hardened steel panels and glass roof. It lives under a canopy of trees in a drizzly rainforest about 1/3 of it life, with tree acids dripping on it, and out under the power feed to our house where the birds sitting on the overhead wire poop on it the rest of the time. Rain, sun, mud, dust, wet leaves and needles, salt air, bug guts, two major oil refineries within 2 miles, you name it, my truck is exposed to it.

Super easy to wash and keep looking nice. I just use a truck washing brush with a long handle and a bucket with warm, soapy water. Comes out looking super impressive, especially if I towel dry it. It's dirty most of its life though, it's a truck!

If you put a plastic wrap on it, PPF or otherwise, your truck has just become more susceptible to damage and more fussy to clean without worrying about damaging that expensive plastic wrap.

Where do you live in the PNW?
I hope so, most likely bad batches from manufacturing defects while they were mixing the composite which sucks for those people, hopefully by the time I actually get mine down the road, it will be less of an issue. Given that the Cybertruck is not currently listed when purchased in 2024, it may not qualify for the credit anyway due to having Chinese cell components. In 2025, Chinese sourced minerals also remove eligibility.

I don't read the forums on my mobile, where in Washington State do you live? Maybe I can let you see what I'm talking about, firsthand.

What manufacturing defects in the "composite" are you speaking of? I really think you have been misled by people spouting nonsense, but I find your replies cryptic on multiple levels. The bed is a composite, but I haven't heard of any defects in it.

So composite doesn't just mean plastic, stainless steel is a composite metal, if there are some impurities in the process during the time of making the metal, then stainless steel will still rust at certain spots, manufacturing defects happen sometimes and cybertruck is still new, I'm sure it won't be as much of an issue years down the road but some people do have that issue, the problem is the solution some people came up with is just wiping it off with like, other corrosive products and then clean the spots but then you are loosing metal when you do it since those are oxidated parts, and they will just come back. If your truck doesn't have that problem, then I have high hopes that mine won't either when/if I get it cause I'm shooting for my reservation to hit in like 2 years LOL.

I'm Seattle btw.

When referring to metals, the more common term is alloy, whereas composite usually refers to non-metals.
Plastic on its own is not a composite. Carbon fiber+ epoxy is a composite.

Please show me people who are having issues with their "composites"? The only issues I've seen regarding the Stainless Steel is alignment. The environmental "rust" that occurred during shipping just comes off. NO ONE IS SUFFERING DUE TO BAD MIXING OF COMPOSITES!

An alloy is not a composite material, it's an alloy, and the alloy is not rusting on anyone's Cybertruck. It's BS.

Like I said, you have been misled by people spouting complete nonsense. The particular alloy used in the Cybertruck has more corrosion resistance than 316 marine grade stainless steel. It's produced in Finland, in Europe's largest and most advanced metal foundry.

You've heard of the expression "As tough as nails"? Well, Cybertruck could sue the nails for false advertising.

I'm very happy with my FS AWD. I've had it for two months, only a couple small issues so far. And the extra's in my mind were worth it, assuming I actually get the home power stuff...which is getting more debatable by the day...

That said, in 2015 when I bought stock, I set aside a certain portion of that TO BUY a Tesla. That money has now bought the Model Y and CT that I own. So I'm not "penny pinching" over it. Had it been my own income, yes I would wait and deal with the potential lack of some features.

What about the Towing Package being a standard option?

If the CT didn’t have it, it would have more clearance for off road.

Smart man!

There is a downside to using profits from such an innovative company to buy their products;

In 2029 you might be telling people your Cybertruck cost over a million dollars in lost opportunity cost! I didn't sell TSLA stock to buy my 2018 Model 3, but it still cost me over $1 million in lost opportunity (because I could have bought more TSLA stock instead of the Model 3 Performance).

In the end, you can't just worry about making as much money as possible, and never spending it, but it is very advantageous to pinch pennies in earlier years to get that nest egg growing ASAP, so hopefully, in your later years, you can buy whatever you want without worrying about the cost. If your nest egg reaches critical mass, and is well invested, you will have more money than you need for the rest of your life. It's like a snowball rolling downhill, start early and reap the benefits of compounding returns rather than struggling to make enough to meet your needs later in life.

Personal choice on that one. My CB will live outside, but after 3 weeks of visible stains and fingerprints and decided to go for a wrap…the STEK stuff has a 10 year warranty. I would like something that blends in. The Unplugged flying tiger looks pretty cool too and blends in some patina in a post-apocalyptic kinda way.

Absolutely! And I've mitigated that in other ways. It was more like skimming some profits off the top. Plus my Nvidia is doing really well ;)

Approach and departure angles are not a problem on the Cybertruck (when you have over 16" of free ground clearance). It's amazing the obstacles it can drive right over, without touching.

It sounds like you've been listening to false narratives manufactured by Tesla haters that the Cybertruck doesn't have a very good departure angle. I mean, sheesh! It's a pickup truck, not a purpose-built rock-crawler, and it has better approach and departure angles than any pickup available.

I've been wheeling it over some pretty rugged stuff, like this vertical block of ice after I yanked an old-growth tree off it:

Tesla Cybertruck For Those Waiting for Non-FS Cybertrucks -- Here's the Flip Side to Consider 20240608_140810adsm

It looks like snow, but it's a solid block of ice. The Cybertruck, with both lockers engaged, drove right over it. Here's the picture from the other side before I cleared the log out of the way to give you an idea of scale:

Tesla Cybertruck For Those Waiting for Non-FS Cybertrucks -- Here's the Flip Side to Consider 20240608_134928adsm

I don't even think a Raptor could have done this, and for sure not as easily. The Cybertruck is impressive!
