When is Payment Required?

My Foundation series came up for order. I've completed all the steps, but now stuck at "final payment"
Does this mean I'm expected to PAY not having been given a date for delivery OR even the location of the delivery?
I do NOT want to have over $100k in TESLA's bank account until I get possession of the vehicle.
Heck, cash these days is still worth 5% annual interest.....

I am at the same step. I am under the impression from reading other owners messages that we can pay some via account wire transfer and the balance at the time of delivery/ pick up with a certified check / VIN # in the memo of check.
Anyone know otherwise please correct us.

I'm the OP.
Just called Service Center and finally spoke to human.
Yes, even tho the app at this point is insisting on full payment, human says payment only required at delivery. STRONGLY recommends cashier's check rather than wire xfr.
Did say that my VIN, even tho assigned this last week won't be at the service center until 'early July.'
Human says I will be contacted when delivery date certain.
Would be nice if the app had all this info instead of insisting on payment now AND provide the expected service center for delivery. I'm in SC and direct delivery prohibited, hence Savannah, Charlotte or Atlanta could be expected.

The answer is "before delivery"

You don't have to do it when you get your VIN. Yes that app suggest that you complete everything first. You can wait until delivery.

But the reason why the app makes the recommendation is that only delivery day, if ANYTHING isn't completed, you are going home without a new vehicle.

And yes, there have been issues where people have made their payments and vehicle delivery gets delayed. It's up to you.

Yes, from VIN assignment to delivery is probably at least two weeks. But at this point there seems to be a couple of issues holding up deliveries in some parts of the country and a general stop-deliver for the windshield wiper motor.

I ignored the pay in app button and paid with cashiers check when I saw it in person (delivery day). For me, it took about 2.5 weeks from the time I got my vin (apr 28) to the delivery schedule opening up and Tesla advisors texting me.

The app sure doesn’t relieve the anxiety though.

I paid via cashiers check at delivery. No issues. Just contact them and tell them that’s your form of payment

I made my payment after I looked over the truck. Made sure everything was ready in the app, proper bank account was connected for example. After I completed the payment while standing with the Tesla delivery person it took me to the next couple steps in the process and within about 1 minute I had access to the truck. I’d not give them any money until you are able to look over the ride.
