That sounds like a lot of unnecessary mucking about. Soap and water is much simpler and less toxic. Why constantly remove the passivation layer if you don't have to. That just invites stains on the metal and visible fingerprints.
Again, it’s not for everyday use. It’s just used on occasion if you let the truck go for awhile or want it to get bright again.

That makes sense. I just get tired of everyone claiming the Cybertruck is finicky to care for when I've taken mine to hell and back multiple times and it keeps cleaning up beautifully, doing no more than I would do for my painted cars. Less actually, because I would clean the pores of the paint and then apply a wax to prevent the paint from being degraded by contaminants.

Having 1.4 mm thick stainless steel, is a lot like having 1.4 mm of superhard clearcoat (only still not as finicky). You can just polish down to a new layer and bring an old weathered finish back to brand new again. And keep doing it over the years as many times as you want. You will never run out of metal to bring it back to new again.

I have the same problem here in Texas. What I found that works best is the follow the instructions on BKF bottle the instructions say to use a moist towel or damp towel to wash off the stainless within a minute after applying it. So I got a bucket of water with Dawn soap and a good car sponge and got a panel wet put a good amount of barkeepers friend on the sponge and washed that panel and then rinse it off with high-pressure hose and then after I was done with the car, I drove through a car wash and dried it off and it looks great.

The problem I have in Texas is too damn hot. The flashing happens so quick that all you get is streaks and splotches so you need to use the water method of applying it and wash it off.
19 years in the restaurant business. New SS exhaust hood was being installed, I asked the technician what was the best thing to do to keep the hoods clean. I am surprised no- one has done this yet. Wash all contamination from the panels and dry. Old English Lemon Oil. Coat everything but the glass. Leaves a thin layer of oil on the SS and guess what, no finger prints either. You can do the same with your SS appliances at home as well as long as they are not clear coated. The oil also acts as a barrier when they get dirty and is is easy to reapply after washing. Soap cuts through the oil, breaks it down. Just wipe oil back on in the direction of the grain!

Wouldn’t this attract a ton of dirt and grime?

I had that issue when I was prepping before putting on protecclear. I found that I had to go at those spots with the ammonia free Windex and fresh areas of my microfiber cloth. The slightest bit of dirt or oil on the cloth will just smear on the truck.
I had the same issue during prep and had to go back over those spots with the SprayAway ammonia free cleaner. Once i did that the panel color was nice and consistent. The ProtectaClear went on with out issue and the underlying color is good.

Like others have said, spray away, ammonia free glass cleaner with microfiber towels has been amazing.

I have yet to actually wash the truck with a hose. I can once over the entire surface with sprayaway, including windows in like five minutes. It also works well on all of the plastic components and the tonneau cover.

Only problem is, I have not figured out a great solution to apply it to the huge windshield, while being able to give the towel the same pressure I would with my hand.

I tried barkeepers friend liquid, and I was getting streaks like that. Never going to use it again. So far spray away seems like the winner to me.
For the windshield I use a setup like this for outside and inside cleaning.

Doesn't in the restaurant scenario, plus it is a very thin coat. Apply with a cloth. My car was covered with tree pollen the other day just sitting on the driveway. I am going to do some tests outside. What is the worst thing that can happen? Wash with soap and try something else.
