I cleaned the truck for the first time this weekend. A few observations, and I realize some of this is already publicly reported (but this is just average joe first hand experience)…
- Being able to use high intensity pressure washer on the stainless is game changer in terms of removing bug guts. Not that I’ve had a deep East Texas or Louisiana experience yet, but over the course of 200 miles I had already accumulated a number. Pressure washer took it off easily without stains. Gotta be careful near gaps/seals, but on the main panels it’s amazing.
- Windex for daily wiping away the finger prints really does an amazing job. It doesn't remove water/streak staining that occurs over time (more on that below).
- Bar Keepers Friend. This removes all staining. Does a really good job, when followed by windex wipe-off. WARNING… you need to wipe off the BKF just after you apply it to a panel. I thought I would improve efficiency by BKF’ing the truck and then follow after by wiping down with windex. By the time I got back around to the first panel, the BKF had seemingly stained the metal. I was freaked out because it couldn’t be wiped away with windex. Truly freaked out I had somehow ruined the coloration. After various scrubbing like crazy with windex and more pressure washing, still wouldn’t come out. Alas… applied another coat of BKF and immediately wiped down and it all came out. Basically, move panel to panel.
