Holy cow we are going down a super hypothetical rabbit hole with way to many assumptions.
I apologize, I should not have made that last comment.

No, of course he can cancel it. We have laws and legal precedent which establishes that.
I am referring to what HE SAID HE WAS TOLD. People at the dealership, store, service center all say whatever. It does not matter if what they said was true (or even if they said it). I was just pointing it out (again totally unnecessary for me to do so I again say I am sorry).

I am pretty sure the arguments going back and forth are petty and nitpicky. I only had one point:
Someone attacked him for being "irritated" and I said it was reasonable for him to be irritated.

That's all I wanted to convey.

I now step back because I should not have responded to your comment about having 2 choices. That was just a nitpicky comment to point out he said "he didn't have that choice". It was unnecessary.
No need to get all wound up. I was just pointing out that the claim he couldn't cancel his order is a big nothingburger. Nobody with half a brain would take that seriously, even if it was actually said.

Super helpful to know that I can bring a cashiers check on delivery day. I always feel hesistant to pay for anything upfront before seeing the outcome first as I've been burned several times in the past.
Tesla also uses Plaid a financial transfer service. Its fast and easy and can be completed after you look over your truck. Easier than getting a cashiers check.

Man, you'd think that someone with 9k shares ~$1.75m worth (at today's price) would get some satisfaction. First of all, I hope you are diversified! Second, I'm sorry that you had this really terrible experience but how do you invest that much money into a company, three cars in and not realize how terrible their customer service is especially at the end of a quarter rolling out a brand new product that is in early edition status with a recently announced recall and overused service departments nationwide...How did you NOT expect something to go wrong? To sell 1.75m worth of stock? Something in this story doesn't add up, I'm sorry.
I've always had good Tesla customer service over the last 6+ years, far better than any dealership experience in my 61 years. I know Tesla customer Service is not always ideal, and the level of service is certainly location dependent, but the same is true of dealerships and I find Tesla to be considerably better. I don't get that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, like I do at all the dealerships I've done business with over the years.

Showed up for delivery today (June 26th) and was refused the truck I paid for in cash. While Tesla had been texting non-stop for 5 days to pickup, when I arrived, they stated they had just unloaded the truck, and the windshield was damaged beyond what they could deliver. They refused to cancel my order, won't give me a delivery estimate, and won't say if they'll be swapping the truck or replacing the windshield. This would have been my 3rd Tesla, dumping it and my 9k shares in the morning. This was supposed to be a fun toy, but is no longer fun.

Are you gullible? Because that's simply not possible. This isn't some third world country, of course he can cancel his order! The fact that the OP believed he couldn't either seems incredible to me. Either that, or people are a whole lot naiver than I thought.
Believing the story doesn't require someone to be gullible. The story might be true, if OP is leaving out 1 detail. If he asked to cancel AND get a refund because of the poor experience, their answer would no. I've learned in life if someone's story doesn't make sense, you are likely not getting the whole story. That doesn't constitute a lie, just omission.

yep.

None of these events add up. Tesla only allows 3 days for pickup and they do not text you for pickup while the vehicle is still in transport.

Sounds like some fabrication and/or twisting of facts going on here if any of this is actually real.

You are missing the point.

@nubbin77 replied to my statement that he could either cancel or wait for one in deliverable condition with, "according to what he wrote, he does not have the choice to cancel his order. "

I didn't say the story wasn't true, I said you would have to be gullible to believe you couldn't cancel your order before you took delivery. You will get a full refund except for any amount that the purchase and sale agreement designated as non-refundable.

Tesla has to require a non-refundable deposit before they ship the vehicle to your location and jump through a bunch of other hoops specific to your sale to prevent Tesla haters from constantly ordering vehicles and then cancelling them right at delivery with no cost to doing so. And that is exactly what would happen if everybody and their brother could order Tesla vehicles with no skin in the game.

I say this only because I care: there exists on the market today decaffeinated coffees that are just as tasty as the regular blends

Your vehicle could have VERY EASILY been sitting in the overflow lot where new vehicles get delivered and the issue wasn't seen until they moved it over to start prep. They don't inspect each vehicle as they take it off the truck.
And wouldn't it have been worse if they'd not inspected it?

Like, even sitting in a locked lot something could have happened to it, or something could have been missed.

Heck, it could have ended up sitting with two dozen of its buddies with 'Elon Sucks' painted on it. How would they know until the morning of the pickup?

-Crissa

PS:
I don't know what is true or not, but according to what he wrote, he does not have the choice to cancel his order.
He always has the chance to cancel his order until they hand it over. (and depending upon state, beyond.)

A service technician may not be able to handle this for you, though.

In my case the battery was dead. They literally couldn't locate which overflow parking lot my truck was in. I had a 4pm delivery appt. The thing is, 45 mins or so before that, as I'm driving in they call and tell me they're running behind but my truck is charging and being cleaned. After checking in another dude tells me the truck is on the lot and sends me on a goose hunt matching VINs. Finally the truth comes. They found it and bring it in on a flat bed truck and may have to swap mid level battery. Luckily didn't have to swap it...yet. I finally drove it home "as is" 3.5 hours later. I tried to scrutinize it on site the best I could and I washed and evaluated it more the next day. Submitted any findings to my existing service request from the night before. Manager did offer a loaner and have me pick it up the next day but in my mind I would clean it better anyway so I took it. Just info. It seems to be working out and hopefully a forgotten experience in a few weeks.

I know the app makes it feel like you have to pay before your delivery appointment, but don't pay before you get there and see your car and are ready to drive off!

-Also, many long time Tesla owners invested years ago and are sitting on 10x-100x gains. I realize many Cybertruck owners are new to Tesla and don't realize there are lots of us with millions to hundreds of millions in stock.

this doesn't make the story untrue. he had no reason to join and post until now is the most likely scenario.

Multimillionaire who has signed up to this forum and only posted this one conversation (and it's an irrational rant).

I'm going to need see some receipts for this stuff you are claiming, otherwise I think you are a short seller trying to damage Teslas reputation to your own gain.

Be a critical thinker. The totality of the story does not add up based on typical experiences of those who have taken delivery firsthand.
