Does anyone have a scan (or could scan a copy) of the UWC drill template?

I'm trying to take some measurements and plan my project while the UWC is heading my way! Will greatly speed up my install.

Thanks!

I'm specifically interested in the offset from the rear right entry the center line.... wanting to drill my hole in such a way that the UWC is centered in it's location.

I’ve installed 7 wall connectors now for family members, all rear entry through sheetrock. Never tried to center it perfectly on wall as I always mounted on stud, wherever the stud landed. Always went 50 amp breaker to allow for romex style wire instead of 60 amp which complicates things requiring conduit and THHN wire instead of romex style wire. 50 amp breaker gives you 40 amp charge rate which is plenty to fully charge overnight, just my 2 cents. You’ll find that you will use a step bit to create the hole the correct size in the wall connector that allows you to use a strain relief with lock nut, but the hole in the Sheetrock will be larger to allow for the screws on the strain relief to fit in the hole. The Sheetrock hole will be larger than the hole in the mounting plate, but covered up completely by the mounting plate. Usually the Sheetrock hole isn’t measured as much as it is made a little bigger at a time until the strain relief hardware fits easily.

All that to say…. If you want to get a head start on the install just pop the wire out hugging the stud and you will be fine as you will expand that hole further away from the stud as needed to line up with the wall plate step bit hole you make. Hope that makes sense.

I'll be installing the UWC on the exterior and coring brick; this is why I'm a little more concerned with planning!

I'm guessing there is about a 2'' offset from the centerline of the unit to the back entry points?

This is the distance I'm looking for just in the Rear Right Side instead of the Rear Left side shown here.... which should be the same offset....

Mine is on order, but can measure it when I get it next week… I bet it’s about 1.5-2 inches but appreciate your desire for precision!

Hope this helps. On your sample image notice they did not use strain relief with locknut, which may not be to code, but likely not done on many installs, especially if dealing with brick, your call. In the absence of the strain relief and locknut you can always cut more plastic out of the base plate to fine tune centering the wall connector while still lining up with the brick core hole. Not sure why they didn’t use the bare copper ground for the ground, a bit over kill and off the top of my head would be concerned if ground bus in panel could easily accept that large of a ground. Buy wire with one less conductor, it will be less expensive. Good luck with your project!

Thank you! That's great!

Looks like the rear entry center is 1 inch from the center of the UWC. This is very helpful since it will allow me to go ahead and core my hole in the brick with a 1'' offset to have it perfectly in line.

On the strain relief, I'm using 1'' conduit. So I plan on using one of these coming into the back of the box with a nut and thread cover on it.

Has anyone done this install with 1''? Should I neck down to 3/4'' close to the box?
