Hey all, just curious what your experience gas been so far getting insurance quotes for CT.

i live in MA and some insurance companies wont quote me without a VIN and the once that do are all over the place.

Granted, MA is an extremely restricted insurance state, and most companies dont do business here for that reason, but no one seems to know what to do with the CT.

lib mutual quoted $9000+ for a 12 month policy, geico was $6400, progressive came in at $700ish for a 6 month policy (all they offer) and my current company Mapfre reluctantly quoted just over $3000 for a 12 month policy. They were ones that were concerned they didnt have a VIN so they could not guarantee the accuracy of the quote.

I just dont want to buy a 6 month policy and then find out that they “re evaluated” and have them now say its $5000 for 6 months you know?

just curious what others have experienced

It's a general theme with pretty much all insurance carriers to bump their premiums over time, relative to what they offer to prospective new clients. They've concluded, I suppose, that it's cheaper to find a new customer than to retain the ones they have.

So just accept that you're probably going to have to switch companies every few years.

As for a VIN in order to get a quote.... if you're ordering a "standard" AWD FS (AWD, white interior trim, All Terrain tires) you can go to most any Tesla Service Center and grab the VIN off their demo model.

Very disheartening! Not looking forward to those CT premiums.

All these CT wrecks are not helping the cause?! Joke!

Prices are high!

Quoted a 1992 Chevy Silverado 2 door work truck over the weekend. $350 more would be added to current six month policy.

I have liberty mutual with all the bells and whistles and I'm at just under 2500/year. Could it be your driving record? I am in WA.

who knows how underwriters decide rates. They tend to be VERY high in MA in general for full coverage because of MA laws. But i have nothi g on my record for the last 5 years.

Try Tesla insurance. Its quick and done 100% in the app. For me it was by far the lowest quote. $220/m with $5000 deductible. I am in Houston, so insurance rates are high here, there are a lot of accidents/theft and natural disasters.

I’m paying about $125 a month for heavy policy and new car replacement for 5 years from Erie. Check them out

in NC and clean record for 20 years.

For those prices I’d recommend renting a small apartment in a nice MA boarder town with friendly insurance rates and insure it there.

They don’t sell insurance in Massachusetts.
