While getting the windows tinted someone at the shop didn't realize the windows were raised above the normal level and closed the door. The window scratched the top sail (whatever it's called) there's absolutely no texture to it (completely smooth) and it's only visible at some angles. Anybody has any recommendations? Is there something i could use to buff/polish this out? Should I just get a service appointment? The shop will pay for it but the other things is that I was getting it wrapped in color next week and before anybody says; "who cares, it's getting color-wrapped", I will probably take the color wrap in a couple of years and get clear PPF.

the window hurt the steel, rather than the other way round?!

Correct, the corner of the window "scratched" the steel. I put scratched on quotes because there's no physical scratch, you can't feel any texture, even with your nails, the corner of the window had a rag on it so it's almost like it buffed a line on the steel.

I’m confused how that happened? I hear there is a grit of sandpaper that is used to give the stainless the final look that Tesla uses. I want to find out what that grit is and test it on the inside of my door. I removed a stain (bird poop) from my hood and I have a smooth spot there now. I don’t really care but want to play with “fixing” it.

Very weird that it is perfectly smooth with no texture or edges at all. The window did that through a rag?

Oh yeah I could see that. Rag between the window and the steel. I’m still confused how the window made it on the outside of the steel?

Hard to believe this is not detectable to the touch

and was done through a rag... Do they use tungsten carbide rags there?

Did they offer to get it repaired on their dime? If not, find another shop.

I just tried to order some of those recommended discs from Grainger and all are either out of stock or reserved. Think it is all slated for Tesla?

I would agree except somehow it isn't detectable to the touch. Sure looks like a deep scratch from the images. Maybe discoloration from solvent/acid on the rag?
You can try some red scotch brite pads (red only, not green). Just scuff it a bit and see.

In order to do the tint they trick the truck into thinking the doors are closed so the windows stays in the UP position, somebody didn't realize they were still up and tried to close the door.
