Hello, new to here. Done with reddit

1st problem at 17k miles… and it’s a big one

400 miles into my (1000 mile) road trip i lost power and got the error Dl_a139. It disabled the rear motor and limits me to 51mph. The only bright side is I’m getting incredible efficiency with only the front motor and low wind resistance. Im up to 330 wh/mi!
Maybe this is what that new motor swap/upgrade is for?

Wow. I hope you are right about the issue being already identified with an active recall. I know there's a recall for motors. I hope it covers your issue. Good luck!

it should make the trailer visualization a trailer, since it knows you're in trailer mode. also, how are you supposed to see out the back with a trailer attached? in fact that goes for all cars!

I know there's a recall for motors.
No motor recall at this time. Select early deliveries have been contacted about an optional upgrade to help test some things but as of the moment there is no recall. Statements from Tesla to date also state there is no issue, risk, or safety concern with the current motors. Situation may evolve into something different but that is the latest known.

Just quoting Tesla and making sure folks know there is not currently any actual motor recall. I hope if there is an issue they identify it and get it sorted soon.
100 percent. I just heard there was an upgrade that they might be doing on the early trucks

Rather the newer trucks have an updated motor that is more powerful and more efficient. And word is they may retrofit the early vins. Who knows.

I stand corrected. Certain VIN owners are being contacted to replace motors. Not all. Some.

No Recall, No upgrade. I had same code come up with mine today. The outcome is VCLEFT replacement. one day replacement. It has been an issue with many Trucks so far. There should be a recall as so many are having this rear motor shutdown.

Hello. What is the status of this rear motor issue? Did you get it fixed? How long? I have a CT, so I want to know what to expect when this happens to me. Thanks.

You're going max 51mph that's where you're saving. I had same issue. Not the motor, nope, you're not getting a new one either.

They replaced my rear drive unit so probably not the same. However there was a control module problem as well. Wonder if that is included with the motor as the invoice says nothing of it

Wow, a bit more involved than mine. The tech said the inverter was the issue and a safety barrier blew the contacts (he explained like two small airbags went off) to save the motor. Also on my drivers side the power module that controls power to the left side was replaced also which might have been the cause of the inverter to meltdown.
