FSD in the city is like a student driver, very cautious and slow. On Highway even basic autopilot is great. Highway Autopilot would be enough for me

I wonder if FSD 12.5 will coincide with the end of FS orders. People who reserved in 2024 are getting invites so they must be nearing the end of the list. Standard orders could then line up with the last major software hurdle completing (AutoPilot and FSD).

I certainly hope not; those types of alarms are worse than useless... they actually break the concentration of driver. which of course is an unintended and oxymoronic consequence.

To each their own I guess, that's why we all like different things. I like the beep and know its only coming on when it needs to. they should of course add an option to turn it off as obviously not everyone wants that feature.

I’ll take a lot of long drive so self drive is amazing to me, but the parking stuff is just a visualization

This was made clear to all of us before anyone finalized any decision and we made a conscious, informed choice. Anyone could have, and many did, choosen to wait for the complete package out the door and/or lower price. Those who purchased freely choose to get early access vs waiting. Tesla didn't hide anything or put a gun to anyone's head. They didn't even hold a threat of losing place in line over anyone. I am happy they gave me that option. Even without FSD I'm loving the truck and would make the same decision over again, even knowing all I do now.

Hi!
FSD tester/user since Nov. '21. Autopark and FSD are different features for now. FSD will "try" to park in some situations. But not always.

I'm going to take a very pessimistic view here and estimate that 12.5 is months away. The 12.4.3 rollout stalled for some reason according to the version trackers. ADAS drivers on Chuck's turn doesn't necessarily mean it's close to a wide rollout.

My experience has been that big changes to the FSD stack cause multiple iterations that usually adds weeks or more commonly, months to a wide rollout. Wide rollouts usually are on the .3 version but have taken .4 and later before. So since they are testing 12.5.1 (most likely), I'm guessing it'll be a while.

Also another fair consideration is the fact that even with a stable release of 12.5.x that goes wide (to the whole fleet), there's a good chance that the Cybertruck rollout will get throttled out of an abundance of caution. This would result in S3XY getting 12.5.stable and CT getting a trickle of vehicles with the update.

Most of everything I have said is speculation based on experience. Definitely not trying to be a wet blanket. But I'm hoping what I share will help folks unfamiliar with FSD to kind of know what to expect.

Summon is part of the FSD suite. It is pretty rudimentary right now as compared to the FSD stack and I've not been able to trust it, save for abandonded parking lots.

Very important to have line of sight on your vehicle in an area with good cell reception for summon to work.

Elon has confirmed many times that the Tesla AI team is working on a Smart Summon and Smart Banish (go find a parking spot) feature. But no known date for those to even begin testing.

I've been saying Aug/Sept for quite a while. I'm still hopeful we see a release by then but as @darkfyre says even if we get a release in the next month or so it could still take a while before it truly goes wide. So work on your X influencer skills if you want to be in the first wave.
