I had the exact same thought while i was watching the video. I keep a loaded 9mm in the center console mainly for breaking the window. I know regular window glass breaking tool won't work in CT. Hope 9mm is good enough to shatter the glass and puncture some holes for me be able to kick the glass off. after watching the video, now i am thinking of replacing the 9mm with revolver with magnum ammo。
This is an extremely bad idea. You need to purchase a quality glass breaker tool and properly mount it. 9mm ball often ricochets unpredictably, and in a lot of cases will fail to break the glass in a manner that allows you to escape.

Proper tool for the right situation.

Good to know, any suggestion for the tool can break CT glass?

From the yahoo /fox26 article:
A Cybertruck was completely destroyed in a crash this morning in Baytown, leaving one person dead. The vehicle ended up in a ditch on Fisher Road near Cedar Port Parkway just before 2 a.m., burning down to its frame.

I like the "burning down to its frame" part. I wasn't aware there was a frame in there:rolleyes:

Surely it wasn't an FSD issue. I don't think FSD is out for the CT yet. If it had been, that would have been blamed. Maybe autopilot but probably not.

Could it have been a possibly chemically influenced driver operating beyond their skill level in a high performance vehicle?

very few tools will get through laminated glass. I read about options back when the Chao family member drowned in her X. a firefighter on reddit mentioned a sawzall as the ideal tool "pound for pound" to get through the glass. conventional glass breakers like those sharp tipped multi tool tiny hammers that were popular in the 90s are of course useless. honestly, punching a few holes with a firearm and kicking with your soles seems farfetched but probably reasonable. I mean, unless you're a rescuer on the outside, you won't have enough room or leverage to swing a crowbar and hook the edge and pull...

Given the time, the driver could have also simply fallen asleep at the wheel, too. RIP.

If Telsa doesn't already do this, they should have buyers sign-off during the sales paperwork stating they fully understand how to activate the emergency exit mechanism

I live just a few miles from this location... it's a bit rural and often people speed on this road. I am sure we will hear what happened but I suspect it was speed related.

Those back door releases continue to be one of the most frustrating things about Teslas, in my opinion. They've never been adequate as "emergency" exits. The levers on the front doors make so much more sense. I'm sure it is cost savings but I love the safety of Teslas and I wish they would put those same releases in the back doors.
The rear emergency release must be obscured to enable the Child Safety locks.

Even Whistlin'Diesel couldn't make the Cybertruck catch fire, and he was using C4!

It must have been a "just right" underside impact to short a cell and start thermal runaway.

This is too close to home for me as well, from HTX. Condolences to the driver, let’s hope we find out what happened that caused this unfortunate event.

Something to remember: Sure, thermal runaway is hot, but... It's slow. It takes many minutes to build up enough energy to burn through the steel casings and the floor of the cabin.

Unlike in an ICE vehicle where the fuel escapes immediately and ignites, the chain reaction in an EV is slow and smoldering.

And when escaping, windows are designed not to fold inward - so they don't resist being pushed outward. And if the vehicle detects a crash, it will unlock the doors and windows.

The dangers of EV fires are not just rare: They're overblown. As a driver, you really don't care about the carcass of the vehicle once you've escaped, and that's when most of these fires occur.

Do you have any sources on this? I cant find any details on this functionality of laminated glass windows.

Laminated glass windows are an industry wide trend, this is not an exclusive Tesla issue. But most cars have at least 1 tempered glass window for escape. I believe the CT does not have any. The rear window will not help if the vault cover is down.

That said, these details will not help in the water, the pressure differential would make opening doors near impossible.

Even though it would be terrifying, let the truck fill up with water first. Then, there is no pressure differential.
My brother was riding in an F-150 that went into the water. He let it fill up with water before opening the tailgate to get out. :p:ROFLMAO:

Let me sum up the news cycle on this:

1. These EVs will kill you, the batteries are unsafe, they will just explode out of nowhere!
2. Elon bad <but I have not a single reason why, he just is>
3. He should have never drove it in the rain
4. Probably rusted
5. A <insert whatever here> would never catch on fire ... meanwhile, 400 cars PER DAY go up in flames due to a 12v fire

Hate these articles, just fuel misinformation.
You forgot, "It is not known whether Full Self Driving was engaged at the time of the accident."

Never mind that Cybertrucks can't activate FSD yet.
