After driving Cybertruck home this weekend for 2 hours and then jumping in Model 3 to go pick up pizza, it hit me, I actually don't enjoy driving the Model 3 anymore and I actually, legit, loved that car and it's become unenjoyable. It's insane!

It totally feels like going from dial up Internet to broadband or going from an outhouse to indoor plumbing.

Like you have broadband but go to a friends house and use their dial up and are like "Man this sucks"

Or you use their outhouse and are like "Man this really sucks!"

Other than necessity you will never ever say, it's fun to go surf the Internet on dial up or keep an outhouse in the backyard to go have fun every once and a while lol

That's how awesome steer by wire is! ?

And traditional steering wheels are friggin huge!!! ?

Am I crazy or is really that game changing?

I agree. On one hand it seems silly to complain about hand-over-hand steering to make a 90 degree turn - it really isn't a big deal. However, you are right, when I go back to driving one of my other vehicles - esp. the F150 - it is a disappointment and I miss the nimbleness of the CT.

I wonder, though, if there is a population that will miss the old multi-turn steering similarly to how many people miss manual transmissions.

Same, shortly after I got my CT, I went to move my wifes Model 3 in the drive way, and nearly hit the mailbox because I was so used to SBW now. SBW is awesome sauce.

Its very weird after driving for so long you would think it would take longer to get used to SBW in a CT, however, each time I now get into a non CT. I find myself having to correct my steering and having to be extra careful for a period of time as it just feels........wrong.

Agree, but my Model 3 has one thing that it better than "steer-by-wire", that's FSD, "no steer"

and around 200 W/mi.

Yesterday I managed to slice into my left thumb while making dinner. It'll heal, but ouch!

Today I figured out that I can no longer use my turn signal ?

Once you go CT you never go back… Or something like that.

I wonder if the steering control will move when FSD is engaged. No mechanical reason that it has to.. i suppose theres a safety component, like the control being in position with the wheels In case driver needs to take over… though on the highway that shouldnt matter much, control input is way less on highway.

Turning the wheel is one way to take over control of the vehicle. If it isn't in the right orientation, then thing would be a problem. Especially since the current physical stops are on the steering wheel and they may be different then from the steering system.

As long as it's in Supervised mode, the wheel should turn... So that you're on the same input position and tactile feedback as the vehicle is.

But once it's in Autonomous mode... It would have no need to, no. And in fact, would be safer.

I drove my Tahoe last night to give it a little love. It felt like driving on ice at first. As far as how far I had to turn, it was very uncomfortable.
