Right now the only source I can find is a mention in a Motor1.com article about Cybertruck.
I know that German/international company ZF Friedrichshafen AG makes steer-by-wire (SbW) systems but how much proof is there that ZF makes the SbW system in production Cybertrucks?

Please post any info indicating who makes Cybertruck steer-by-wire (SbW) system?

In some videos featuring various Cybertruck components, you can see a ZF logo on the Cybertruck’s steering rack. Presumably, Tesla is using components designed and built by ZF

Why not assume that Tesla makes it?

While driver steer-by-wire isn't something that Tesla has done, drive-by-wire is available in every other vehicle, because that's how AutoPilot and FSD does it.

All that the Cybertruck really did was remove the connection between the column an wheels.

*Update!* Tesla (Lars) issued a correction about the wiper power: "Quick correction on that one - my mind was on steering motor power (also enabled by 48V) - the wiper motor is nominally much less in most speeds, peaks around 120W. Not nearly as much, but still enabled by 48V since >100W... imagine that on 12V, the wires would be huge!"

#1. reason is report I quoted from Motor1. com article some people have seen ZF logo on Cybertruck steering rack part.

Do we even know that Tesla makes Model X steering racks?

Do we even know that Tesla makes Model Y/3 steering racks?

Yes, Tesla is much more highly integrated than legacy OEMs but I far as I know Tesla does not make the the entire disc brake system (parts possible made by Brembo), wheels, tires.

Does Tesla make tie rods, or main upper/lower arm ball joints?

Steering rack is ultra safety critical and the steering rack is subjected to huge stresses and must perform in bad environmental conditions. It is not like body panels/panel gaps or seats comfortable/uncomfortable.

While driver steer-by-wire isn't something that Tesla has done, drive-by-wire is available in every other vehicle, because that's how AutoPilot and FSD does it.

All that the Cybertruck really did was remove the connection between the column an wheels.
It is a lot more than just remove column.

A lot of redundancy in sensors and motors (2-3 motors instead of 1) was added to steering rack. Was original version AutoPilot/FSD steering rack comparing multiple redundant inputs from multiple sensors and deciding which to believe when different values received.

Steering wheel hub the driver uses might be completely different technology because AutoPilot and FSD directional sensors might be in steering rack not steering wheel hub.
The new steering wheel hub might now need to artificially re-create road/tire feedback for the driver.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG: X-by-Wire: When the Electronics Take Sole Control
ZF has the largest portfolio of by-wire technologies in the industry. What are the advantages when the electronics control the brakes, steering and other systems in the car – with no mechanical connection to the driver?
https://www.zf.com/mobile/en/technologies/vehicle_motion_control/stories/x-by-wire.html

.....
Absolute Fault Tolerance With Steering System and Brakes
An essential prerequisite for all by-wire systems is intrinsic safety: The steering system and the brake in the passenger car must never fail; the vehicle must remain controllable even if some part of the electronics fails. Since by-wire systems have no mechanical connection to the driver as the ultimate fallback position, the electronic control units must be designed redundantly, i.e., duplicated in the vehicle together with their control electronics. The control software must accordingly foresee the scenarios where the backup system is used. "Ensuring such fault tolerance is anything but simple – a large part of our development resources is devoted to this goal when developing steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire," says Meyer. These comprehensive safety architectures for by-wire technologies required for brakes and steering systems encompass the supplier structure for purchased parts through to the issue of cybersecurity – because, logically, nobody else must be able to "hack" a car and operate the steering and brakes apart from the driver. "There aren't many companies that can manage this complexity. This is one reason why, apart from ZF, there are now only a handful of steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire systems ready for volume production on the market," Meyer concludes.

Because I want to be right and not wrong.
I try not to assume if facts might be readily available.

They are replacing the Steering Rack - which used to be a Bosch motor assembly
with a geared "rack."

I noticed in a discussion in another forum that the 2014 Model S P85 uses a Bosch EJ32‑3200‑DB, and that earlier models used the EJ32‑3200 series as well. This appears to be Bosch's belt-drive model or "EPSapa" (they have three series of electric power racks plus one powered column). Various Range Rover models use exactly the same unit, so it's not a Tesla-specific thing; in fact, Range Rover enthusiasts might be a better source of information than Tesla owners, since Tesla strongly discourages owners from modifying or even maintaining their own cars. The control computer for this system is mounted right on the end of the assist motor, so bypassing any of that seems unlikely.

"JE" in chart might be the Chinese company Wuhan Jielong Electric Power Steering Co., Ltd.

---------------------------------------

CHINA: China Automotive Systems forms power steering JV
China Automotive Systems a leading power steering components and systems supplier in China, today announced that it has set up a new joint venture to manufacture electric power steering (''EPS'') systems and components.
The joint venture company, under the name of Wuhan Jielong Electric Power Steering Co. Ltd. ”WJEPS”, is based in Wuhan city, Hubei, one of the key auto manufacturing bases in China.

.....
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of China Automotive Systems, Hanlin Chen said, “Electric power steering systems represent a significant new market opportunity for global auto steering system suppliers. EPS systems are attractive for a variety of reasons, including lower fuel consumption, environmental friendliness and higher profit margin as compared to hydraulic platforms. In the past four years, we have been researching and developing our own electric power steering systems. Our technical preparation is now ready and the need for EPS in China market is also emerging, therefore it is the right time to launch this initiative.
