How the CB over the CT makes sense.

They are both great trucks. Ones a little faster and has a few more bells and whistles. Whether this is worth the extra money is up to the person buying it. I love the CT for what it is. Congrats to all those who have their trucks.

I almost went with the AWD CT but then pulled the trigger on the beast… I just knew I would kick myself if I didn’t get what I really wanted.

Also, I have a strong desire to piss everyone off in my small rural “diesel trucks are amazing” county by entering it into the local truck and tractor pull…

I chose CT over CB. I’m not usually the person to buy the top of the line. My Mercedes are never AMG my Full size Range Rovers are 6 cylinder, I’m just not that guy.

BUT… here is where paying extra for the CB would have made dollars for me:
- $4k towards PowerShare installation
- Light bar which I know I will buy
- Free Supercharging because my provider isn’t setup for PowerShare yet
- Dash upgrade, which I will likely have done. My CT isn’t a work truck and the dash definitely feels like a work truck.
- Last but not least PLEASURE of seeing people’s face when they first take a ride, that my CT just can’t provide. ?

So the 20k extra really isn’t “20k”

Uh, you do realise that for a truck the Cybertruck is stupid levels of fast right? That it's not normal at all? So not sure I get the lack of people making faces, they ALL do!

Cyberbeast for the most brings nothing more than "Ermaaagaahd levels of 0-60", been there done that and you'd be surprised how little you smash it down daily driving etc. Then the tire impact (you find that out rather quickly) so yeah, this is 100% why the Cybertruck AWD is perfect for me. I took delivery yesterday, it's fast AF for a truck and the steer by wire? So wild!

I hear you though, the CB speed is just stupid levels of fast.

Tied into the acceleration insanity that is CB is the higher torque/ horsepower numbers for those that feel the need for that. 845HP 10,296 lb-ft vs 600HP 7,435 lb-ft.

F-150 5.2 L Supercharged is 720 HP, next highest is high output EcoBoost 3.5L with 450 HP. With 4.7 first gear and 3.73 rear axle the 510, 640 engine torque becomes 8,940 and 11,220 at the wheels (ignoring losses and torque converter effects).

All of these reasons and more:
- FS CB is already a collector's legend
- EU auctions are pricing FS CBs at hypercar levels
- Once FS ends, FS CB value will skyrocket because it will be the rarest Cybertruck
- You only "think" you don't need the CB speed... until you have it
- You definitely need the CB torque for overland (that video of a CB crawling up a boulder at like 5 mph) and towing
- Swagger, being the big dog, standing a little taller
- Inspiring all sorts of emotions which secretly mask respect (even my wife is now anxious to get it)
It's more likely that the price tanks once the FS ends. The only benefit is etching, lifetime premium connectivity, and included FSD. You think that the etching will keep the price high? That seems unlikely given the history of limited edition Teslas, especially since the foundation series was a pretty huge "limited edition".

I ordered the CB but if you put an aftermarket beast badge sticker on a CT you could fool some people for a while at least.

I'll add my 2 cents:
  1. AWD has mechanical lockers on both axles
  2. I have a Plaid X. CB is a different machine and I don't see how I'll ever use the power. On X, it's a different story because that thing flies and you have so much control (and much higher top speed)
  3. On above, I paid 8500 for plaid over regular. Few weeks prior to my date, many paid just 3.5k over. 20k is too much. If it was closer to 10 I'd understand
  4. I'm not aware of anyone getting free supercharging on beast. Correct me if wrong
  5. Similar to my S, prior X, prior 3P, I expect Tesla to provide a bit more from the motors on the AWD in due time
1. Mechanical lockers limit you, can only lock at low speeds, can malfunction, can get stuck in locked mode, can get stuck in unlocked. The CB rear axle can do all the all the things a mechanical locker can due plus more, lock at high speed, allow turning lock, disengage while under power.
2. And computer will never need more than 128 mb of ram, given more power, you'll find a way to use it, even if showing off to friends, or merging into traffic more safely(getting around those A**holes that speed up trying to keep you from merging in.)
3. Fair enough, but regret not getting plaid with my Model S. Would be willing to wait longer for CyberTruck, if I had Plaid now(maybe)
4. Was surprised OP mentioned this, was going to ask and got excited.
5. Could also provide a bit more to the motors to the CyberBeast as well.

Clarification: This is all justification for overpaying on a vehicle I want, not need.

Free super charging is no longer an option. Tesla changed their terms and service per teslas customer service.

- Free Supercharging because my provider isn’t setup for PowerShare yet

There is a Joe Rogan podcast with Elon Musk and Elon tells how he was reluctant to publish the acceleration times for the CB. I have the CB. It would not surprise me if they tune the acceleration down due to some government regulation. The truck is unbelievably fast. Spending $500K on a super car won't provide equal acceleration and those super cars can't haul 5 people and a load of lumber etc, etc. Its a rare opportunity to own a vehicle for $100k non FS or $120K FS with performance metrics that are simply unheard of.

I just couldn't justify it. And I'm one who usually can't resist top of the line. For my situation it really would have just been for the extra launch speed and the AWD already smokes almost everyone and impresses everyone I give rides to.

I'll get a cheaper and better light bar aftermarket soon enough :)
Exactly my same thought. Mine is really fast enough for me and living in the mountains and 50 miles to nearest city I didnt need that much power. I love the truck.

FYI, the "cuff does not match the collar" in your post. The title and verbage seem to indicate you chose the CB, but in your first line, you say, "I chose CT over CB." Did you mean the opposite, or are you just disagreeing with yourself? (BTW, I agree with your reasoning and logic about selecting the CB!) Cheers!

Don't forget as features change or evolve, FS will always be the "First" and that is what collectors cherish above everything else. He has a point technically speaking.

I don't believe the Cyberbeast will be a collectors item. I think it will have less value than the signature S series (first MS), which aren't coveted more than normal Model S.

The FS will see a drop in value once the non-FS start rolling out (en masse) as we've seen from Tesla in the past.

When I was in my 20s I remember telling myself anyone who pays over $30,000 for a car is stupid. Vehicle is only meant to get you from point A to point B.
I was selling cars in the 80s, top end conversion van was 30k and 5 year financing was just coming to light. Fast forward to now, E9 Kia is 72k an electric motorcycles cost 30k.
