This video is the exact thing the 2nd tech did, I just want to state for the record I new what I was getting as an early adopter and am not mad about any of this... I am also here to document it just in case someone else has the issue, you know birds of a feather, and eventually I will have a solution which I will post for anyone in the future to see. I have a very early VIN, 1011 so that might also be a factor.

so nope and nope and probably not. None of the exterior buttons work. Also the Mobile service guy said the release is not accessible from under the wheel either.

Here is what I think... 1. I think the tailgate is actuated on both the left and the right side. There was a thing on my Model S where all of the left side of the vehicle would not get power after a 12V fail and you had to unplug the cable under the rear seat. I wonder is this is the case. I'll be honest I build robots for a hobby and I am tempted to build a quick 48V battery and try attaching it to the jump point to see what will happen. My wife is telling me no so I am giving Tesla at least a 3rd chance.
A skilled locksmith with a camera scope and a flex rod should be able to actuate the manual release latch for the tailgate.

ha! As an engineer, I wanted to do things to make it work but wife said no. Let Tesla handle it.

Software isn't perfect, and sometimes depending on hardware statuses etc. messes up. At least it was your truck updating versus something that was life and death. Heck, bad software in CT scanners back in the day fried a number of folks internally until they found it was a software bug.

By the way, I had asked about the mobile tech about this video and he said that is the last case scenario and it is NOT recommended. If that was done, he stated that it will truly “Lock” you out of the Tesla system. That is only to be used for First Responders in the case of emergency.

So I haven’t installed the update due the couple threads regarding this. Update is downloaded but haven’t installed- just waiting to see how things go with others.

I have the software downloaded as well. Quick Google doesn’t show any other threads, can you link the others?

As the title says. Installed 2024.45.25.5 and the truck went unresponsive.

So just be aware of this when you press to update.

They are sending a truck to bring to my local service center.
I am out of country and see the update but after reading this I hesitate to proceed. Think I will wait until I return in Feb.

wow! This isn’t making headlines?
Because a tiny number of machines fail an update? Honestly, that's not news. It just means something went wrong that shouldn't have or wasn't properly expected.

These sorts of things happen. Sometimes it's because a gamma ray flipped a bit somewhere that was important. It's really hard to eliminate those one in n-thousand, but they'll eventually get it down.
